Did you have to change the carriers?

I used the same carriers. I may be wrong but you can use axle set ups from the early to the b4 the lengths are the same. You may have to use axle shims to get the correct spacing. If Iam wrong some will reply with the correct info.

hello Rick,

The original carriers on the RC10 used a flanged bearing (1/4 inch axle). If you switch to the newer style axle, you'll have to replace the bearings. The carriers are drilled straight though and do not have an inner lip. So if you put a regular unflanged bearing in the original rear carrier, the bearing will just slide out.

You have 3 options:

1. Find the correct flanged bearing (difficult)
2. Replace the carrier with the type used on the rc10t
3. Use the original carrier and bearings, but make a sleeve to fit over the axle to increase its diameter.

That would be for the carrier bearing?Or the one that goes into the wheel or is it both?

so far every stinkin rim I have come accross takes that exact size. People keep telling me the bearing size is the same as the rc10t but I have not come accross one set of rims that takes those for the RC10. maybe they exist, i just haven't got any in the lots Ive purchased.

I just went out to the garage and checked, my C.E. that has 2" three piece wheels on it and it takes the 3/8" by 3/16" plain bearing. Sounds like the lots you've been getting have a lot of old wheels in them!

this bearing is used only for the buggy rear hub carries. they would replace the original 1/4 x 3/8 bearing so you can use a 3/16 axle to run modern 2.2 rims.

the front bearing size for the the old rc10 buggy rims (1.9 3 piece jelly bean, 2.1 tq) is 3/16 x 5/16 flanged. the 3 piece front c.e. dish rims are 3/16 x 3/8 plain.

Well that would be why then thats all the rims I have jelly bean and tq's. I can't find the thread that tells you how to convert to modern wheels, i searched and searched where did it go?
