nice shocks

Post by greazy »

Well I was cleaning my shocks before I disasembled them for my shelfer project. I put them in some all general household cleaner I have all ways used on everything with no problems. For some reason the cleaner and the anodize on the shock reacted it ate some of the anodize and pitted the aluminum. So I was left with no choice but to strip them the rest of the way. So after about 20 hours with a sanding and polishing this what I ended up with. I think they turned out nice I might even do a the tub on my next project !

I wish i could have goten a better pic but they were so shinny then were picking up my reflection.

Very nice - it is amazing how much time you can spend (waste) on these damn cars

Looks very nice.

The time you spend on RC car is endless. I just unanodize and polish all the part on my HPI 5b and made A steal cage for it. And who nows how much time i got in it. I started last week some time.

Those are purdy shoks. I use simple green doesn't react with anything that I know of except dirt and grease plus it is environmentally friendly and is approved by mrlexan. :P

Hey, on that simple green comment there, I just had some 6 gear trans parts soaking in some simple green overnight. The outer diff hub which is just natural aluminum was sitting half in and out of the solution, it's got a noticable line now, where the fliud level was, so just be careful. It was also dark, which mostly rubbed off when drying it off, but it was very weird. The same thing occurred with the midplate also.
