Finally my 870C restored to new life!
Hi everybody, I know that in this fantastic site it is possible to find a lot of old Yokomos perfectly restored, real pieces of art.. but let me show you my creation!
It all started with a real bargain at the bay, then continued with the restoring of a quite worn chassis, which I reinforced with a couple of carbon layers at the front and at the back, where the bulkheads screws holes are.
I finally painted it matte black, to make it the same as a brand new black fiberglass chassis.
I looked for some parts here and there (thanks bormac and kenooze!!) and topped off the car with a lovely repro body from mrlexan.
The electronics are quite vintage.. even if not as much as the car.. Take a look to the motor: that is the Tamiya Sport Tuned 540 I put in my Grasshopper almost 20 years ago!
The body painting is so nice thanks to my friend Giulia from Crazy Club.. I am not good enough!
Thanks for looking! bye!

Hi! No spacers are put between wheels and hubs.
I have several hubs of different length, so I chose those giving the right width together with the arms and wheels I have.
Bye

Thanks, but I will use it.. at your club 2009 vintage race!!
Obviously with a different body (already scratched..), different undertray.. even different rims!

Ste
You really did get a good bargain with all the parts I sold on ebay and can I say you did a far greater job than I ever could have with that car and all the parts included. Have you still got the old Protech 4 body to bash around with? Great work on the front of the chassis.
Regards

Hi Varma!
It's a pleasure to hear you!
I was just thinking about sending you an email with the pictures, but you catched me before!
Yes it was a bargain, sure I had some work to do, but restorations are fun if there is something to fix.
Fortunately I could count on the help of my composite dept. colleagues to reinforce the chassis and restore the bulkheads holes; it was an easy task for them!
Yes, I still got both the original bodies, I intend to use the red-white-blue one for bashing and racing once I have restored it a bit..
Anyway the YR4 Pro I won in the same auction was also useful: I now have a lot more spares for mine, which I still race indoors during winter.
Thanks again! Bye!
Stefano

I'm happy that the car ended up way the way I wished it had. I've been keeping an eye out on the forum and seen that you really had to hunt for parts well done again.
Cheers
