Re: Another re-release from Tamiya
I bought a couple Hotshot part lots just months before they announced the re-re kit. I could have bought at least two brand new kits in just what I spent on eBay auctions. But that's the way it goes. I probably paid too much, but I did get a bunch of cool aftermarket bits that I could never afford in the 80s. Que sera...
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Re: Another re-release from Tamiya
Has anyone seen pics? I checked the Tamiya Inc (english) site, but nothing. Are we sure that it will be on the original chassis shared by the falcon/bearhawk/blitzers? They wouldn't try some of that Holiday Buggy CRAP again would they?!

Re: Another re-release from Tamiya
You more or less summed up the way I feel about it. That is also why I'm mainly into the oddball and rare R/C's. To me re-releases are like taking any of the desirable antique cars from 40-70 years ago and start making them again in exactly the same way they did back then. It totally ruins it for me personally but thats just my opinion. I realize that these are just "toy cars" and can understand where others are coming from. We're all in the hobby for the same but different reasons.shodog wrote:I view the re-re's with mixed blessings. It's cool that they have released some of the most desirable vehicles. I was so happy when I bought my buggy champ and sand scorcher. I'm not worried about the value diminishing, I think it sucks when it ruins the exclusivity of what you have. Case in point, I have a subaru brat that I chased sown all new vintage parts for then Tamiya goes and re-re's it. all that hard work for nothing.
It also opens the door now for people to mix and match parts. Putting re-release parts they might be missing on an original and selling it as all vintage and vice versa.
Though I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy about the Stadium Blitzer being re-released. That truck played a major roll in my introduction to the hobby.

I hope Tamiya will add the Blackfoot/Monster Beetle soon.
Since the Sand Scorcher's re-re, I guess anything's possible.

Some of the plastic looks a bit "better". I like the labeling of the motor to simulate the old RX 540 Z. Thanks for the pics!

I think it is hilarious the massive Avante dump that is going on on ebay right now.
