I remember visiting Breckenridge years ago and had a good feel I'd like to have a skiing vacation there (which coming from a European and former ski freak is a compliment!)

My vote would be Lake Tahoe California. I've spent a few Christmas there and it's beautiful

I have always wondered what it would be like to enjoy the traditional white xmas over in the USA. What areas do you recommend for a great xmas experience.
It all depends on what you are looking to do and/or see (Ski, snowmobile, ice fish, etc)? Do you want a small town feel or be in an area with many options for entertainment? Do you want to see a decent amount of snow or do you want to see huge amounts of snow? How much do you want to spend? Also how does your body handle high altitudes?

Not knowing answers to the above questions, I would recommend the following:

Any National Park such as Yellow Stone National Park

High altitude places - 1- Jackson Hole, Wyoming 2- Estes Park, Colorado 3- Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Low Altitude places - 1- Lake Placid, NY 2- Manchester, Vermont

Heck, they wouldn't have to go down under for a summer Christmas: just come to Texas! It's usually t-shirt/short/flipflop weather here at Christmas! Well, it's not like that always; just seems that way!

But I live less than 5 mins from some of the best beaches in Australia. Add to that all the theme parks, the Gold Coast strip and endless dining and entertainment venues this place is the summer holiday destination of Australia.

Plus, I have a great vintage r/c collection you could peruse through at will
