Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
I hear you ER, I am going to get bearings and the Aluminum motor mount, as well as the aluminum prop shaft.
On another note, parts are all cleaned now and ready for reassembly. Just need bearings to arrive so I can get it back together. I am also replacing the stock MSC for a Tamiya TEU-104BK I had left over from my CC-01 build.

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
Where can someone get an alloy motor mount besides ebay? Mine has full bearings, adjuxtable upper arms in the front, gpm purple mainshaft and ends, duratrax photon 2 20 turn motor, 19 tooth steel robinson pinion, stock tble-02 esc, 2.2 inch tamiya dish wheels with proline dirt haws and a carved out the chassis to fit an2s hard case lipo. It rips but right now there is 5 feet of snow on the ground so it is on driveway probation. Oh yeah, its box art. Its my favorite besides my trf 201, I love that trf buggy

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
Asiatees.com (GPM) or 3Racing might have aftermarket motor mounts.
Another good option for this chassis (and all TA01/02-based cars, really) is an alloy front gearbox bottom, which will prevent breaking the front gearbox in certain frontal impacts.

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
I have always wanted one of these but the performance has never equaled the price I wish I could find a good deal on one

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
I have everything cleaned now and am waiting for replacement parts. I am just waiting on bearings and new front uprights. Out of the four uprights, three of them had hair line cracks so those needed to be replaced.
Interesting while searching for bearings for the TA02/01 some stores had 4 different sizes listed for this model and some had two sizes. I went page by page through the manual and discovered the TA02T only uses two different sizes.
16 each 5x11x4mm and 6 each 5x8x2.5mm for a total of 22.

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
The difference is in the front uprights... the original TA01 front uprights (red) were 1150 bearings inside and out. When the TA02 came out (blue), they had 1260 bearings outside and 1510 bearings inside, same as the TA03 and FF01 models, amongst others. TA02T has gone back to the simpler 1150 all round.SFC K wrote:I have everything cleaned now and am waiting for replacement parts. I am just waiting on bearings and new front uprights. What is the 2 each 10x15x4mm bearing for that I have seen listed for the TA02?

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
TA-02 front arms + TA-01 front uprights (C-hubs are the same between the two models) also widens the front track, IIRC.
Which means you need specific universals, as the regular TA-02 ones are too short.

It seems, Looking forward to seeing this in line, a friend of mine is truly into pre-runners and has manufactured a couple of Rangers yet this one is looking much better with this body then those.

Re: TA-02T Ford Ranger
I have it put back together and it runs great! I painted the back portion of the body as well and blacked out all the yellow with black. I think it looks decent as a basher body. I will be on the look out for a new body down the road.
This was a fun project and I spent a lot of time cleaning parts but I think the final results were worth it.
I still have the long shaft that ties the front and rear gear boxes together coming so that will be swapped out once it arrives.

Very nice...Being a huge Tamiya fan myself, I'll have one of these in my collection at some point. I need to wait for Tower to have another Tamiya sale.
