I thought the ROAR time line was going to be the answer to everything until I saw that 1200, 1400, 1500 & 1700 batteries were all approved in 1992, so not much use for finding release dates
I raced with SCR 1400's in 92 for sure, perhaps also in 91. Before that were only SCR 1200s. SCE's in 1700-1800? They were around at the same time as the SCR 1400 but no one in 2WD used the SCE's. Some 4WD's did especially modifieds that couldn't make race time on SCRs. The SCR's could discharge at more amps and were the better battery. So if you could make the time on those that's what you ran. I have two packs of 1400s, and about 4 or 5 1200s and they all still work today which is amazing. Maybe not quite as well as they used to but they do work quite well. I don't know anything about what happened after that as the nitro cars/truck came out and they caused the death of 95% of the clubs in Australia including all the ones I raced at.
man im glad i found this site, lots of old memories, i remember the scr and the sce at the same time, the mod guys ran the sce and us stockers ran the scr cells, tried to gear em to last 4 minutes,

I also have a number 1400 scr's and 1700sce's that are still running very well. As long as you take care of them, they'll last. I use a victor iq2 which does a very nice job on the nicads. Looking in my bin, I still have 30 new sce cells that I'm sure will work if I ever decide to build them.
Can anybody identify these cells? They're 1700mah and the label is blue, kind of like the tan label of the RC2000 cell. I'm guessing they are the last version of the 1700 that came out right before the RC2000 cells. The box is sealed so I don't want to open it up.
I'm sure that in march 1990 I was racing with sanyo 1200scr (red) and 1700sce(yellow)
I can also add that 1400scr and 1800sce were not available in 1990
In 1992 the new Panasonic 1900 purple elements were starting to appear in scene, being the rule in 1993. I totally abandoned racing in september 1993 as I started my engineering studies at university, so I never had them. I suppose that sanyo updated his capacities later as panasonic were the one and only offering 1900mah in 1992.
sanyo scrc sounds familiar to me , but never had one in my hands, so surely they were arriving to scene in 1993
I'm not going to attempt to re-rail that other thread, so here goes:
When did battery bars replace braid? I have a red sanyo 1200 matched pack with labels on each cell, but it was put together with deans battery bars.
Is that an appropriate pairing...

Red shrinked 1200SCR cells may be period correct with those Dan's bars... those cells were made for a long time, although overshadowed by the 1400/1700. I've recently found some of the red 1200's in stick packs that had price stickers from 1991 on...
I now have available battery straps for my transverse shorty pack battery cups, printed in Nylon.
I'll make these available at Shapeways in the next day or two, but for now I have 3 available for immediate shipment. The price is $8 plus shipping....

The width is 1.86 , and the length is 3.80 .
I've run several brands of shorty packs in them and they have all fit nicely. 8)
Hey all,
Have used a set of calipers to measure the battery box within about half a mil
134.5mm x 47mm x 24mm
1) Has anyone found any lipo packs that fit?
Prefer hardpack/ROAR approved, but they all seem to be too big?
Yeah Racing 4000mah LP0042...

In my Pro SE I took my Losi hinged battery bar/box out of the front and replaced it with a Velcro batter strap (i used the same coutnersunk screws and put a hole in the velcro strap then used a washer and a nut on each side, and now combined with...
I am finishing up my RC10CE driver project and realized none of my batteries fit. Anyone have a LIPO that fits this set up? I am thinking a soft case would do it but I'd rather stay hard case for Lipo if possible. Or at least a decent 6 cell NIMH,...

you can Drill, countersink, cut servo tabs and mount servo with forward mount only + servo tape - it takes 5mns, you just need a drill and a countersinking bit, it doesn't have to be super accurate, heck, even I with my 2 left hands did it properly...
For Novak it´s not really difficult finding anything but are there any informations on Tekin timeline? There were quite a number of ESC and chargers also over time but even in manuals you don´t find a release date most times.
One ESC I would like...
We all miss a timeline for Tekin ESC's and others.
With that said, I started to go through RCCA magazines from 1988 to parts of 1997. Now I know that the dates/years are not accurate as it all depends on when RCCA had the chance to get their hand on...

Great information! I have probably 20 Novak ESCs. This will be very helpful deciding which ESC for which vintage car.
