i wiped out trying to tire kick a pop can about 5-6 years ago. thats the last time i really rode the pk.

i'll be interested to see the new retro haro. i saw some kind of limited edition new haro painted up like an old one on ebay that i thought was pretty cool.

remember the short little downhilling craze in the late 80's? i LOVED that in bmxplus. i always wanted to be with those guys in the mountains with some old fram flopped upside down with barbell wieghts bolted to the bottom and a motorcylcle fairing rigged on it. remember those?

radical rick... omg i gotta google radical rick now. lol.

Hi, I still got this in my cellar:

Image

My 86 Redline RL24, Hutch stem, RL cranks, Hutch pedals (somewhere...my wife only knows)...and a lot of dust.

I sold my last 20 inch (a Robinson Racing) in 1995.

above is an 84.. though i think i had a 87-88 but it had the same frame style as the 84

i sold it last year at a garage sale for 35 bucks i think..
i was in the "liquidating" mood

BMX

Post by Dr. Robotnik »

Hi guys,

I am glad someone has made a BMX thread, so cheers MelvinsArmy 8)

I posted this picture in the who the hell are you thread but I don't have any other pictures of my bike so it'll have to do.

The bike is fairly new school as I still ride regularly but has a couple of mid-school parts which you guys might know...

Frame:- Metal Rebel Contender
Forks:- Sunday Morning Forks
Front wheel:- Proper Magnatanium hub on a Chrome 36H Araya Super 7x (best rims ever IMHO)
Rear wheel:- Nankai freecoaster with Profile Racing hub shell on a Chrome 48H Araya Super 7x (best rims ever IMHO)
Bars:- S&M Slam bars (best bars ever IMHO)
Stem:- Basic Bike Company (awesome) short lived company who sponsored Andrew Faris)
Seat and post combo:- Macneil (do not buy this set-up the seats break very easily)
Cranks:- Profile Racing 175mm cranks with a Titanium spindle

The bike has no brakes or pegs!

So here's a picture of me taking it through its paces doing a tailwhip a few weeks ago at Epic skatepark in Birmingham.

P.S. Although it doesn't look like it I am in the air going from just out of shot on the left to the right.

Oh wow, I've been meaning to start a thread like this for awhile! I wish I had pictures of mine but before I worked in a hobby shop, I worked at a bike shop, it was my first real job when I was like 12. I had a ton of different run of the mill bikes, Mongoose, Haro, GT, etc but then one day we get this frame, fork and bars that made my mouth drop. It was an MCS Styler, the one with the double bars in the back. I bought the frame, fork and bars for $400 back then but I wound up selling it for over $1000 a couple of years later, an offer I couldn't refuse at a time when I started being more into girls and clothes. Man I wish I still had that bike, Its one of the few things of mine that I have ever sold but the one that I truly regret.

Seems a bit steep to me, yet I don't think it's $1000 RC10 steep. They might actually sell. I'm not really up on Torker prices. If that was an NOS Hutch pad set, I wouldn't be surprised if it caught double that. If you want to follow some insane auctions, watch for good Hutch pieces, JMC stuff, or the "holy grail" Hutch Aerospeed POS cranks. $3000 for a pair of garbage cranks that are in good shape, it happens whenever they come up.

beardxxxd, yeah I've been to bmxmuseum.com quite a few times, that's a great site. I spend a lot of time on http://www.vintagebmx.com too. Imagine RC10talk for vintage bmx bikes x about 1000. It's huge.

Great pic Dr. Robotnik, it's good to know some of us are still riding hard, and not just building show ponies *cough*like*cough*me*cough*.

Cheers for the compliment MelvinsArmy 8) , I still enjoy riding as often as possible, it is a lot harder in the winter though. :(

All the show ponies as you put it, are amazing on here  and I am a huge fan of bikes in general, though I only really know a bit about mtb's and bmx, but not so much about the older stuff. :?

I have been on the vintage bmx sites a few times too and nothing beats the style of the original riders. I have always thought they must have been crazy as I always read the old school bikes fell apart. Is that true?

Hmm, I'd trade the scooter in for a shot gun for that.

Awesome, I'm glad you won Hoopty! Now the fun begins. I can't wait to see it built up.

I listed my white Pro Performer on ebay today. I don't really need two 20 inch bikes, and since the PFT is kinda my all time dream bike, it's going nowhere. I'd like to get a Kappa K-24. Here's the PP auction:
