How does it drive?
Will an RC10 walk away from it like BITD?

Dude! You know better than that! It's no racer, and you have to be smooth on the gas. The Frog tires really help (clip off the side knobs!). The car is bad on braking bumps due to the torsion bar but still very fun to drive. With a lipo and black can motor, it jumps nice and flat.
What the hell is BITD?
Best In The Desert?
Back In The Day?
Beat It To Death?

I have communicated to my wife this is what I want this year. Hope I get it- under $300 would be great
(getting up on my well worn Tower soap box....)
Join the Tower Hobbies club for $10. They send you an email coupon for $60 off purchases above $300. Free shipping on orders above $150. Buggy Champ for $259.
And yes, I am now waiting on mine to arrive (B-day present)!

Ok, I heard someone say a coupon for $60 but didn't know anything else. Great deal-
I just found out on Friday, that the demand is so high for the Buggy Champ, that Tamiya is doing a second production run. A Tamiya dealer told me we may see a Sand Scorcher or Ranger in March.
I have a feeling the Sand Scorcher will be available by Christmas. Its the 30th Anniversary for the Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher and what better way to celebrate it by releasing the VW for Christmas
Been keeping busy lately with my TLR racers. But low and behold that vintage bug snuck up and bit me again! Picked up this B stamp CE off of the bay a couple weeks ago. My intentions are a 17.5 runner for the vintage class at MHOR here in Denver.
Well not yet, but i am pricing one out and buying one along with all the random cheap at the moment hopups.. Was looking for some direction and answers..
So far i bought:
Upgraded Shocks
Aluminum Wheels
Stainless Screws
Tamiya Diff
and im waiting...

Hey I found this in a search and have some questions as I'm in the process of modding my Sand Scorcher using the DF-03 slipper as well.
Did you have to swap the top gear out? I didn't even know it would come out.
I was wondering if you guys used different paint for these hard bodies vs. lexan. Is there any different prep. I was thinking it may be more like auto body. Thanks guys!

briefly, use tamiya TS paints and yes you should prime. here is a paint tutorial I made for scale 4X4 that outlines the process on a High lift body but the same principals apply to the buggy champ body
Great tutorial.
I cant seem to find any Buggy Champ 2009 front tires? They seem to have dried up on ebay, tower, Tamiya USA. Cant even find a listing on Tamiya USA. Are they all gone with the discontinuation?

Yeah, the car is, but I can't see them stop making tires and other breakable parts as poeple are just starting to run them.
SInce there have been a few Scorcher10s I was wondering if anyone had done a SRB RC10 one. I love to watch the videos of the guys (mostly UK) bashing out their Rough Riders, Buggy Champs, and Super Champs on youTube. I just cannot justify the cost...

That little spoiler on the back , and the lack of netting in the sides windows makes me think this body looks like the MRP Mears body (which I just saw in TBG's)
The rear part of the funco is a lot sexier though ;)
