How can you tell if the motor plate is for a stealth? My CE has a prominent A stamp visible from top and bottom, but also a B stamp just barely stamped in the top, right on top of the A. The B stamp is not visible at all from the bottom. It has a six gear, but also has holes drilled and countersunk for a stealth. The motor plate is the same as the other stealth I have, and the 10T stealth except for the obvious color difference.

Same as my out of the box C.E.

I don't think they ever produced a 6-gear with a Stealth motor plate. Maybe that car was retro-fitted?

a stealth motor plate has 4 screw holes in it where it attaches to the trans. a 6 gear only has 3. other than that, they're identical.

this car doesn't look like it ever had a stealth in it. there's no marks on the back of the motor plate, or on the tub itself. if there was a stealth in it, it wasn't in there long. :?

My assumption on the late six-gear CE's is that the drilling machine was already setup for doing the team car chassis so they automatically were drilled and countersunk for both transmissions. Team cars predated Stealth equipped CE's by a year or so. The motor plate could also very well have the fourth hole going by this logic...

I accidentally posted this in scr8ps Andy's thread, too...

Back to the CE chassis subject...

Here's a late six-gear:

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ASSOCIATED-RC10-GOLD-PAN-TUB-CHAMPION-EDITION_W0QQitemZ130165917399

Notice it also has black plastic shock caps and a four on a side front tower. Seller claims B over A chassis. Can't tell about the motor plate. Last of the six gears there for sure...

The link isn't working for me, but that sounds exactly like my car. B over A on the chassis, 4 hole tower, and plastic shock caps. My car does have the fourth hole in the motor plate.

Fixed the link, Justin. I forgot to notice that php truncates the link, I had just cut and pasted from the other post...

My favorite is "light scratching" to describe the bottom of a chassis that looks like it was taken to a belt sander. Or an axe.

That happened to me recently. Pisses me off actually, it happened was with ebay seller "shauntiques".... I am just stating fact and not pointing a finger. MINT was used in the description and I got a Krylon chassis with a couple of deep visible marks. Also with marks on the bottom of the front and rear arms. I don't think that equals MINT in anyone's book. Certainly not mine. Sorry if he reads this..... just a fact.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

I agree. There is no grey area or room for interpretation, mint is mint.
