Jwscab I know you ain't man. I've tore the front end off and it cleaned up pretty well I need some tires and new rods and had to replace a axle carrier. Other than that I think If I get the cleaner wax after it the tub will shine up nicely. I think. Any how will have pictures up tomorrow night the trans is soaking in peroxide now.

TY Johnny

Don, All they have to do is offer up, they ought to know that by now.

Ok Ive been reading the board for a week now and have found many many different ways to make the old white parts white again. I read that hydrogen peroxide works great. I figured at 2.00 a bottle it is worth it. I scrubbed the parts thoroughly, with soap and hot water. I then sat the parts in a bowl and poured the peroxide in and let sit in the sun for 4 hours. I just checked on them after bringing them in at 9pm and they are no whiter then after I washed them. I have bleach do I need to soak them in that? How long do they need to sit in each? What else can I do to make them whiter. I will let then soak in the peroxide for another hour then I will pill and towel off.

you should've spent $2.00 on black dye and made the few white parts that are actually on it match the rest of the car.

I reckon you should dye all the nylon parts black (that aren't already), get a set of black wheels for the front and it's perfect!

I have a new spur gear and a old 6 gear trans. I do NOT know how the spur gear mounts so that it is tight enough to turn the wheels.

If any one could help Id really appreciate it. I will NOT toss the 6 gear for a stealth I want to have one 6 gear car in my collection.

Bent, assuming the new spur gear you have holds the 1/8" diff balls (edited, sorry for the confusion), the gear will "float" slightly when tightened on the 6 gear, that is the external diff (not a slipper). Tighten it up, hold the spur and spin the rear wheels, they should move opposite each other. If it is very tight, slightly loosen the nut and retest until you are happy with the feel. Then place the car on the ground (or hold both rear tires) and attempt to rotate the spur by hand, if you can (it is slipping), tighten slightly until you cannot. This will tighten the diff action you just set before, but you will need to find a happy medium or compromise between the 2.

the spur gear should hold 1/8" diff balls. Won't work otherwise. The original gears only had 8 balls, lots of modern gears that fit pan cars have like 40 holes in them, you need to figure out which pattern fits on the diff rings correctly. If you've never seen it before, it makes sense for you to go through the manual for a 6 gear trans, and all will become clear.

JK Racing- I completely get what you are saying. I will have to get a new old gear and a couple more small bits, before I can adjust it out to how i want it.

jwscab-Thanks for the link man. That will come in handy if i ever have to redo mine. Its certainly helped me under stand the 6 gear a little better.
