Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
i might be wrong, but i think the black outline on brian's body, between the white and blue, is just sharpie marker on the outside.

That would make my life a lot easier. IMO, it would look a lot nicer if it was painted though.scr8p wrote:i might be wrong, but i think the black outline on brian's body, between the white and blue, is just sharpie marker on the outside.

Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
I going to try and get it as close to the box art as I can. I've been looking at the reflections off the body and notice there is not relief of ink off the body in the reflected areas, so a sharpie wasn't used on the box art car. I'm not sure how I'm going to get such a smooth line that is consistent in thickness. Guess I better be careful with the close up shading.

Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
nah, it's probably paint. you could try wedging 2 xacto blades in one handle and stick something between them when you tighten it to get the width you desire. that will give you a consistant thickness throughout the stripe when you cut it out. or, lay down some 1/16" tape over top of the tape covering the white and blue area to get your outline. then cut down both sides of the 1/16 tape.

Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
I've considered the 2 blades idea, but I've already cut out the masking tape for the white
Funny thing is that Rod gave me 2 bodies for the same scheme. Guess I will be doing 2 blades, 1 handle for the next try
This first one will be for the runner for sure!

Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
Well, I ended up masking off the blue sections and cutting out the black lines in between.
This is what I had to work with after reconsidering the double blade idea
And, this is what I've got now

Re: Vintage AE's airbrush experience
I stopped by the shop today to drop off the Masami body and Matt Francois wing, but Becky said you weren't feeling well today. Hope you get some rest.

Hope you get better soon. They had to shut a couple of schools down for a few days here it's going around so bad.
