I was about ready to panic, then breathed a sigh of relief. At 469.00 thats more than twice what I just dumped on a vintage xx4 plus rally weapon and ton of spares. WHEW! Sure the new car looks much improved, but suggested retail is crazy.

We must commend the folks at Team Losi for actually doing this. I have always felt that the xx4 was the best 4wd buggy ever,, and have tried quite a few in local racing. This newest version looks to be a world beater yet again. Hoping that some of the new parts will retro fit to the oldies so my cheapies can be improved too. Especially interested in the motor clamp,, and most everything underneath it...

Don't know if I'm the only one but has anyone else noticed the increase in XX-4's that are appearing on eBay....?

This one, IMO, seems particularly pricey> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/losi-xx4-/261290630846?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd6229ebe#ht_25wt_959

....or am I just out of touch???

No, thats ridiculous. Ive seen good runners for right around a hundred and twenty. Granted they are going to be USED but hey,, 950 for a toy thats not a MIB bruiser is not even realistic.

I've been seeing a lot of insanely priced items as of late, but that XX-4 is quite over the top. And it needs "roller bearings." I'm trying to think what those could possibly be.
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

you guys don't know your classics well enough ;)

roller bearings are (should be) the little small bearings that go on the dogbone pins to smoothen the movement against the diff outdrives... BK popularized them.

Besides that... you also need to look better before you criticize an auction... for the price there's also an orion lipo charger, xcelorin speedo + motor, venom lipos, a full set of losi tools, a shock measurement tool, a shock shaft clamp tool, a bottomless box of parts (including a chassis...), blah blah blah.

I'm not saying it's a great deal... but there's way more to it than a simple roller.

re price of a new one... the MAP for a B44.2 is $599...

it truly is an XX4 re-re

"Another team to unveil a new car for the Worlds, Team Losi Racing haven’t had the best of starts to their campaign. Off their top drivers only Dustin Evans completed the full run, most of team-mates breaking their TLR22-4. In terms of times Darrem Bloomfield posted the fastest lap with a 27.993 before breaking an arm. "

Oh, those roller bearings. Didn't even think of them.

It is more than a roller, there is a lot of stuff there. But what makes it odd is that the person is selling an older buggy, with every tool that Losi makes but who is the target market?

I just got a giant box of NIB XX-4 parts for 40 bucks. Maybe that's why I feel it's a bit pricey.

Feel kinda bad for the TLR guys in the video down the page. Their focus was "durability" yet they are still breaking towers, which was always a problem.

Maybe they do need to get that kit from Hong Kong with the reinforced towers.

up until a few days ago there was still a market for losi die-hard fans who wanted to still run one of the best xx4 of all times at any cost... I agree, not, it's a bit of nonsense and he will have a VERY hard time selling it even for half this price... but still ;)

Yeah, my price comparison is based on finding that killer deal,, which does happen. Even with all the goods,, it dosent quite make the cut for "killer deal".

I was just at The Track yesterday and the buzz is high but the cost issue is another story also...Not many there will buy it...They will wait for parts and upgrade what they have...

The roller bearings he speaks of are in the tranny. There are several sets of small bearings that keep the belts from skipping.
