Nice work!
In the last pic it looks like you've got a B4 slipper assembly and spur gear fitted, care to share how you worked that out? Looks great.

Re: Kyosho Lazer ZX -- 2010 VONATs Entry....
OK, I removed the stock slipper assembly, left the bottom washer/ring, made the hole on the associated spur big enough to fit the center bearing, slipped the spur and pads onto the shaft on top of the bottom (or First) washer, then slipped an associated slipper plate on top of everything, and tightened it all down with the stock nut.
There might be more creative ways of doing this mod, so all you Kyosho Mad Scientist, please, please, improve on my Idea...
I'm only running a 17.5 motor on my ZX.
I also replaced the Kyosho shocks with RC10 Team Shocks, used Associated Tie Rods with RPM ball cups, and I'm in search of a bearing steering system.
The B44 lexan undertray fits almost perfect, the sides of the chassis need to be trimmed a bit to have a perfect fitment, and the body will take some creative cutting to make it fit....

Re: Kyosho Lazer ZX -- 2010 VONATs Entry....
As I was looking through my posted pictures, there isn't one that clearly shows the slipper assembly, I will do so tomorrow after work.
Isobarik,
I used a body reamer very carefuly, I put a pinion gear on the motor to see if it would wobble, ran it, and it was nice, straight, and smooth.
I still have to sort out a set of rear cvds...

Do you want to use the old w-5061 or the new style ?????
The new style just use the 62,5 bone and the axle La231.02.
i have done that works awsome and you can use the clamp on hexes .

I have the original ones, I need a set of the newer pin style ones. I know my local hobby shop has them in stock.

Re: Kyosho Lazer ZX -- 2010 VONATs Entry....
So I felt a bit creative today, and decided to paint the JC body...
Why did I cut out both sides of the body?? I don't know, it just looks kinda cool. still need to get an under tray.

Re: Kyosho Lazer ZX -- 2010 VONATs Entry....
If you cut down the B4 slipper backing plates you should be able to use two B4 plates and the slipper spring on it. I'm gonna try that also...

Great car, but i am curious as to why you opted for doing that mod on the slipper. Did you contemplate buying the hyper clutch instead? That in my opinion is better as you can remove the spur without having to mess with the slipper setting.

Ehh, If I did a bit more research, and had a bit more money I probably would've done a better set up, I just wanted to use what I had on hand to make it a 48p compatible machine....

Re: Kyosho Lazer ZX -- 2010 VONATs Entry....
Cool. Your idea was good and making it happen is what its all about. I have done the same. At least your using a less powerful motor as the spur is a lot smaller than standard. So for you info three spur gear teeth equate to one pinion gear tooth. Look on radiocontrolzone under the lazer zx,zxr thread and you will find many options that are still available. I decided to get a lot of items made up for lazer racers so we could still race competitively now, so chassis, top deck, shock towers, servo plate, steering plate, gearboxes (he occassionaly makes them when requested), bodyshells and someone got the belts made so now so much is out there you will be racing this for years to come. Welcome to the club. Any help just pm me.
