Ok, I was fortunate to do a test run this afternoon at the local track before racing commenced. This was my first run to see how it did and to check for things that needs to be addressed at this point. Overall impression was SWEET! There were quite a few guys checking out the 'weird' looking buggy zooming around the track. The track owner knew right off what it was. After my run, he came and said that thing was looking very, very good out there on the track. My take away was that this thing is going to be super cool and will be a contender.
Things to address:
Modern wing mount options.
Shock set-up, particularly with the front.
And most importantly, the tranny. I could tell that it was making some noise.
With that said, can I buy a standard diff rebuild kit for it? Or do I need to look for something in particular? Please point me in the right direction there.
Very excited about how it did on the track!

Re: My RC10 Worlds Project Runner
it's most likely the gears making noise, not the diff. it's sort of an issue with the 2.65 rpm trans because of the smaller topshaft gear.

Re: My RC10 Worlds Project Runner
Ok that is good to know, but it did sound like the noise of a diff when it is in need of maintenance or something and that is why I felt concerned. It seemed to 'bark' or 'slip' a little.scr8p wrote:it's most likely the gears making noise, not the diff. it's sort of an issue with the 2.65 rpm trans because of the smaller topshaft gear.
Are the diff's typically ran pretty tight on these cars? I can't remember what I did all those many years ago. What is the preference for the slipper clutch as well?

Tight the diff till the end and loose 1/4 of a turn. Just to start.mdutcher wrote: Are the diff's typically ran pretty tight on these cars? I can't remember what I did all those many years ago. What is the preference for the slipper clutch as well?
I founded this point to adjust the slipper. Loose 3 turn from full compressed spring. It works in my track but depends of the surface of yours.

Re: My RC10 Worlds Project Runner
I rebuilt the diff. That was the issue.
Drove it tonight in open practice and it did very well! Very happy with how it has turned out.
