why 8-32 and not 1/4???
why are the wheel nuts and others called 8/32s and not 1/4? does anyone know?

An 8-32 nut is a #8 sized shank with 32 threads per inch. A 4-40 is a #4 with 40 tpi. The nut/thread size isn't ever measured by the outside dimensions because you can have similar sized nuts or screws with the different threads, like a 1/4-28 or a 1/4-20. You can also get #4 screws with 48 tpi, known as a 4-48. Most US kits use 2-56, 4-40, 5-40, 6-32, 8-32 and 10-32. Rare you'll see anything else in an Associated or Losi car.
