I emailed RPM a few months back about arm mounts, they told me most of their molds are recycled when demand for parts goes away. They also said they have a few old molds that were kept and they would be "evaluating the market for possible re-releases". I guess the bumper means they can make short runs of some parts for people like us, I just don't understand why they didn't just release them in dyeable white only.

Hopefully they've got a few more molds sitting around, like maybe worlds arms front and rear!?

I whish someone in the states should make an order for all of us and dispatch the parts... It would make it a large order and may motivate RPM to keep this part alive....

Great news. I asked if this part was to stay there for a while

Here is the answer.

Yes, they will still be available for a while. We have approximately 1,000 still in stock so it'll be a couple of years before they're gone for good.

I replied asking for more parts (gear cover, suspension arms...) :D

Ok bad news. Got another email. They will not produce any other RC10 parts. Not enough sales.

I just ordered my front bumper from them, black is ok by me it matches my gear cover :)

BTW, if you need the plug for the gear cover. You have to contact RPM directly, the plugs are not available through Shopatron. I just ordered 3, and it cost me $3.25 ($0.75 ea. for the plugs and $1.00 for postage).

Canada is 'international' shipping, which automatically cranks up the shipping costs, with customs, tariffs, etc. It's almost double to just mail a letter. I know a guy who just released a wrestling interview DVD, and he said it's more complicated than just addressing the package to Canada and paying a little more, there are all kinds of rules about it.

Injection molds are tremendously expensive to make, in the thousands and possibly tens of thousands, and they are usually custom fit for a particular type of machine. The mold itself is a big block of metal with the void areas machined into it, so they probably took the old molds and machined them for a different part.

Molds also wear out over time, so the quality of the parts degrades. Plastic model companies are reissuing many old kits over the past few years because new molds are so expensive to tool up, and the quality can be really bad, with lots of flashing and misaligned parts.

In this hobby if you want something, don't wait to buy it, especially if it's a reissued part. Even new products can have a limited run for one reason or another. Pro-Line has had a bunch of officially licensed bodies that they stopped selling after a short period of time (Silverado with the bed cap, Jeep Wrangler, etc), so with the new Cherokee and others I'm going to get one now and sticking it on a shelf.
