Tell me about this body

Post by RedScampi »

I picked this up at the LHS this afternoon. There was supposed to be a swap meet and parking lot race but the crappy weather killed it, at least until next week. So, i blew a bunch of money on hardware and this. Anyway, I did some searches on the interweb and came up blank. Doesn't look like any other Funco body, its topless and I don't know what it fits. :?:

Found a bit that mentions the full size it's based on
All four SRBs shared the same basic chassis and running gear - a fibreglass chassis plate with aluminium components for suspension, steering, motor/gear casing etc. The most impressive feature was the off-road suspension featuring 4 oil-filled dampers, rear swing arms, hairpin springs and torsion bars - a full set-up that closely resembled the suspension of the real-size Funco SS1 and VW Baja Bug dune buggies that the Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher were modeled from, respectively. On that note, even the Tamiya SRB decalling reflected the real life racing sponsorship.

Yep, as long as the weather is fair. If it's a little iffy they said to call before you go down.

Also, next week they'll be auctioning off the collection of Jose Morales who passed away recently. Proceeds are going to the Susan G. Koman foundation.
His collection was evidently quite extensive by what the hobby shop owner told me. They had one kit of his, a vintage NIB Hummer opened but not built, in the showcase for $100. Looked like a great deal to me.

Scamp, That shell was probably intended for one of the full roll cages from the rough rider/super champ that replaced the roof on the body (after it broke off). There are a couple examples over in the Tamiya club showrooms...

Al is correct. I have the original mold for that body (sorry for digging up an old post... you know anything body related sucks me in).
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Jay I would take a body or two of these if you ever do some pulls on the mold.
