new guy-used RC10T

Post by romulus22 »

Hey guys just wanted to stop in. Just picked up an older RC10T off of e-bay. Ive been out of the racing world for a long time and once I picked up an SC10 a couple weeks ago I had to get myself another 10T. Ive always had a thing for Associated cars.

anyways onto a few pics. maybe you can help me tell if its a team truck or just a regular? also what year it may be? it has full bearings and team shocks but has dog bones and not universals. I'm unsure of the other ways to tell them apart. One more thing. I pulled the shock caps off to check the fluid and there were no bladders. Did they not come with bladders in the earlier models?

Thanks for any help

That's right! They never called it a Team Truck on the first gen!

Welcome to the forum romulus22, you have a very nice 10T there. Associated never used bladders in any of the 1/10 off road shocks.

You going to run it or shelf it?

I'll run it if I can find a track to take it to. The local off road track I went to when I was younger is no longer there so I'll need to do some searching around.
Right now I have a body off to the painter. Really excited to get it back. I'll definitely get some new wheels, tires, and body if i ever drive it.

Oh and I wanted to say thanks again for identifying the model for me. I'll post up pics when my body get here.

And to slotcarrod, I'm not positive but I had one of the last gen black tub RC10GT team when I was younger that I bought new. I thought I remembered it having bladders in those shocks. Maybe I'm remembering something else though.

The bladders were an aftermarket/ option part only.

I turned my RC10GT into an RC10BT I guess you could call it when I turned my RC10 into a T with all the traded parts from the two. Sold both shortly after before i even got to run them. Ever since I regretted selling them but now I am back into the R/C world I'm getting back my favorite cars.

The 10T was one of the models I distinctly remember at the hobby store when I was a kid and the one i wanted to most.

I just remembered after looking at my old blackfoot on the shelf that it had an old associated motor in it. Would this be a correct motor for my 10T?

Is it me or is the preload on your rear shocks uneven?

It could be. It's not moving under its own power anytime soon so I'm not worried about it. You shouldn't worry I'm not worried.
