TBG Team Bluegroove repro Procat shells

Post by kaszal »

I see Team Bluegroove are doing repro Procat shells. Has anyone seen one? Are they good? Is it normal lexan like the original Schumacher bodies. Thanks!

I have a TBG body in the shop right now for one of my customers, and as far as re-pops go, the quality is pretty low. There are no window masks, and the details are lacking. BUT, if there are no alternatives and originals are few-and-far-between, they aren't too bad. Compared to Jay's bodies, there is no contest—I'd rather have stuff from Jay—no matter what the wait is.

It looks like TBG used one of Marwans procat bodies to do their replica. I say this because the front end isn't right, and I doubt they would make the same mistake. The rest of the body ( I have two from marwan) isn't quite right either. The front of TGB's and Marwans are square, and the orginal bodies are round. Take a look around, and you will see what I mean. I don't know how TBG's lexan is, but if Mr. Lex reproduces a Procat body, then I would definatelly go for his. -Jeff

A few years back Kamtec starting reproducing 'a' Procat body but it is not the factory item. Its an aftermarket mold that resembles but is not the same as the original.
Here is the Kamtec shell on my Bosscat-

Yeah, you can see the difference in the front, and elsewhere. I assumed when I ordered them the they were repros. Also, I thought that Marwan and Kamtec were one in the same (or at least were, correct me if I am wrong). -Jeff

Hi Jeff.
Kamtec is run by Keith in the U.K.
Marwan makes Kyosho only I think and he is based in Kuwait.

I like Jasons paint job on the Kamtec shell, like a tiger!

I've ordered mine and want to to give it a high visibility paint job.

My son says pink, orange and white. Any suggestions?

I have many TBG Shells on my vintage runners and i feel nothing is wrong with them.

Yes they arent as good as the original but he never set out to be as good either as you would whinge how much they cost.

If its a shelfer by a Vintage shell for your Avanti. If you have runners like me that have over 40 vintage buggy's than TBG are just right. Im thankfull that he gives me a option.

No window masks no problem just mask them up and cut out using a sharp X acto blade. They all come with overspray film too.

He is in the process of getting decals made for his shells as well.

Customer service is nothing but simply the best!!!!!!!
