94 YZ-10?

Post by Bimdapogs »

Been looking for a 94/95 YZ-10 for a while, and finally got one. Special thanks to Ron (Rattlesnaker on this board). It looks like a 94 YZ-10 to me with some mods. I'm gonna take some detailed shots of the mods later, I really didn't have much time to inspect it last night, but comparing to the standard 94 YZ10, it seems to have:

shaved (OG) front tower
alum. front knuckles
alum. battery posts
slipper and center one-way assembly
CF upper deck
Losi springs and shock retainers
aftermarker BB steering assembly

Image

It also came with the wing mount and gold button, forgot to include it in the pic.

Question: What parts from the onroad counterpart (YR4's) are compatible with this buggy? I know my LHS has a few YR4 parts. The motor mount on this has a few drilled holes, I'm thinking of replacing it but I don't know which one from the YR4 series will fit. There seem to a lot of variations of the YR4, there's YR4 II, M, M II, and some Type Js. Are the belts interchangeable too? If anybody can clarify for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I think the shocks are original Yokomo, only the retainers and springs are Losi. I'll have a closer look later.

Would you know which one of these motor mounts will fit the buggy?

ZR-304J1 Light Weight Alum Motor Mount, Stick/Saddle For YR-4J
ZR-304J2 Stick Blue Motor Mount For YR-4J

Thanks for the help so far.

Those look to be the Yoke shocks.

Neither of those motor mounts will work. You need the magnesium, single piece one, like the YR4 and earlier YZ10 models.

Great, thanks! I just got the part numbers off the shop's website, good thing I checked here first.

The current motor mount still works, but I know it has holes.

I'll give this buggy a bath soon, and I'll post pics as I go and show the non-standard hop-ups/mods.

they only fit to type-J and they are two piece separate structure. J2 light weight than J1

Thanks Paul! I'm very happy Ron let this one go. I'm almost finished cleaning up the parts.. You can tell this buggy was well taken care of, no worn out parts, no stripped threads and hack jobs. Hey Paul, do you have a spare mag motor mount and upper cover?

Nice car Marvin! I like that "exploded view" pic, really cool.

Ya, I normally don't let stuff go, but that NIB Magnum 3PG was just too tempting! (Thanks Marvin) Actually it is only the second car I've ever let go, my first one was OptimaMid back in the '80's and have regretted that ever since.
