My latest build
My latest build
Here's my latest build. Its an '87 Haro FSX that I restored to look like an '86 Sport. I've been gathering parts for this for over a year. I bought the bike new in '87 and rode it for a few years until I got my drivers license and started chasing girls. Its been sitting in my basement ever since. I could not be happier with the way it turned out! Im looking for a couple parts to complete it like a gen 1 Odyssey Gyro and white cables. I actually only need the top plate for the Gyro. I have the bearing and lower cup/plate. If anyone has one to spare I would be very greatful! Any condition is fine as long as the threads for the cables are good. It will get powder coated anyway.
Heres a rundown of the parts on the bike:
Frame, fork, neck, and seat post are all OG. I had them powdered white by a local company.
NOS Dia Compe Nippon brakes F+R
New SkyWay Tuff II wheels
New repro Skinwall Freestyle tires
New Redline Flight 3pc cranks
New generac pedals
NOS Tioga front sproket
NOS Tioga spider
NOS Tioga headset
NOS Viscount Dominator seat
NOS Ame grips
New repro Haro stickers
NOS Tioga rear pegs
The front fork standers and the seat post clamp are OG that I cleaned up.
I took it for a spin yesterday and it brought back some great memories! I don't like how these pedals look so Im going to replace them with something else and I need to get the brakes/rotor sorted out and I think it will be done. I might start gathering parts for 2 more bikes I always wanted as a kid. A Haro Master and Hutch Trickstar from the same era. I like collecting vintage RC more than the BMX stuff so unless I win the lotto it will be quite a while before those 2 bikes will get done.
So what do you guys think?

Re: My latest build
It's gonna be hard to stop with no cables.
Looks pretty nice. I'd put some old school cranks and pedals on though if it were mine. I've got a set of 1/2" (1 pc crank only) pedals off an 88 Master in silver, too bad they're 1/2" or I'd give them to you. I also used to have some Gyro parts laying around, but I'm not sure if I still have them. I'll have to dig around.
What kind of chain is that?

Id like to get a set of Group 1 cranks but they are a bit out of my price range!
Pedals are getting changed for sure. If you find the gyro parts please let me know. I don't need or want to buy a complete, over priced POS off ebay. I just need the top plate. Cables will be ordered this weekend.

Man...nice work.
I'm finishing up an old MCS race bike for my daughter for x-mas...using all the bitd parts.

Thanks guys! I finally got the Gyro and rear cable installed. Just waiting for the front cable to come in the mail and it will be done. Well, until something else comes along that I just got to have!
dsmith, those old haro plates fetch some good money depending on condition! Don't get rid of them! I might even be interested in one?

Wow that brings back some memories. I remember back in the day driving something like that. I think a friend of mine actually had one.
I still have my old Chrome Plated Diamond Back bike. This was my brothers bike and I got it once he was done with it. I was told it is a race style bike because of its size.
Nice job,
Nick
