ESC Tray

Post by Snorman70 »

Does anyone make an ESC tray that mounts to the rear shock tower and allows the esc to sit upright as seen in many photos posted? Have not had any luck finding one.

Also, is there an aftermarket or another manufacturer's battery tray that will screw right into the chassis without serious modifications?

I used to use the two way servo tape back in the day to mount the ESC to the rear shock tower and maybe a zip tie for added holding power as did most people.
I'm not sure what people do now.

If you countersink the holes on the shock tower and use flathead screws the ESC will mount pretty well using servo tape.

Holeshot or somebody made a graphite ESC shelf, but it was just a section of carbon fiber angle cut to 1.5" wide or something. I have it, it works ok, but it's nothing special. You could do the same thing with a piece of aluminum angle stock from the hardware store cut down to fit. Or just some aluminum or Kydex plastic or something semi-rigid and bend it to a 90 degree angle.

I remember this from the JR-XT track report in RCCA, I want to give it a try and see how it works.

This is full-size from the magazine; the layout will need to be tweaked to fit an RC10 shock tower.

Holeshot racing products made one out of carbon fiber real nice, way back in 92 can be seen in the Dec issue in the scan section. I managed to snag a few way back in the days. I used a few for my helo's as a switch and charging jack plate and one can be seen on my Duratrax conversion kit.

Thanks for the information. I will try to fabricate one myself from the above diagram.
