Re: flood down under
I hope you guys are alright. We had some major floods last May here in Tennessee, the water will go away, the cleanup is the worst part.

Re: flood down under
yes the flood's are north of my location up the top of queensland, some friends had come to visit during the holiday's and cannot get home now the poor thing's. there has been so much rain i thought it would never end
some were saying 2012 end of the world was here early
a lot of resident's have remained in there premise due to looting which had happened in the past, the police are removing one's they deem it necessary with many not having power at all still. the water level's are set to peak in rockcampton tomorrow with even more rain forecast
there has been a lot of cleaning up already in the spot's where the water has subsided and it looked very nasty with sewerage coming into the mix. it's very sad for a lot of people that's for sure!!!

Re: flood down under
The weather has been rather unusual here in Australia. As Gary has mentioned the amount of water up north is pretty crazy.
Recently I took a work trip out far west of Sydney and encountered an insane amount of flooding where people havent seen a descent rain in more than 10 years. Needless to say innitialy thoughts were that this would be the rain they've been praying for and was set to make the past 10 years of drought a turn for the better. Sadly the endless rain has destroyed crops and farmers livelyhood and there was mention made to me that one farmer actualy hung himself. The mood is a somber one out there with the realisation of hard times still ahead.
Throughout my travels I saw entire towns effected by severe flooding and what used to be dry and desolate landscape had become lake's as far as the eye could see. Amazing stuff to see in person.
..and they thought we were drought stricken.
