4 puck clutch shoes

Post by treehugger »

So i got a four shoe fly wheel for my GT project and was wondering if it was worth doing on such a small engine. ( stock from the box new .12 cvx)
And also would it be better to do the run in with the stock 2shoe setup ?

I've run stock 2 shoe, 4 shoe, and MIP clutch shoes...MIP is on everything I own for clutch shoes. Well worth the extra few bucks IMHO.

+1 for what Todd said on the MIP 4in1 clutch. set it and forget it, oh, except for the tiny clutch bearings that never seem to last too long!

ok edit i need to play the lotto lol
as soon as saw the mip kit on the bay i realized i had seen that before, and sure enough i found the two half moon shoes and the spring.
as it was in a bunch of spares i got i don't have instructions is it as easy as fitting the shoes with the spring away from the motor ?

+1 on MIP being the best clutch, it is the only clutch I run.

TH, that doesn't look like a GT clutch, it should be round when placed together like that, and it should have four holes, the second set being for the weights. That being said, if it fits in the assembly ok, then it should work fine. The spring goes out, and you will need to file down the clutch pins on the flywheel so that the clutch will sit flush against the flywheel. The spring causes clearance issues if you don't file the pins down, you will see what I mean when you put it together.
