Pete a B4 is the latest version / evolution of the RC10. In other words the RC10 B1 is essentially what you have. What followed was the B2, B3, then B4.

As for the tranny, some pics would help but if you did buy a B4 tranny, the only thing you will be able to use is the top shaft unless you highly modify the existing chassis. Even when you do buy a correct stealth tranny, you will need to drill holes in it. I suggest buying the stealth template at rccarbonworks.com

Hope that helps. Since this thread, I've upgraded my motor to a Castle 5700 and it absolutely SCREAMS. For some reason, my son's car with the same setup get better traction from the rear end and it will lift the front end at will. So much fun doing that on my street!

Good luck

OK, I just won another stealth tranny off ebay that looks like its the right one for my gold pan. Paid 45 for it and it came with the aluminum side plate and the plastic top mount plate. I suppose I should sell my B4 stealth now on ebay. What should I ask/what are they worth?

Now all I need is to drill mine or find a B stamp. Haven't seen too many B stamps on the 'bay in the last week or so of looking though.

Thanks for the help and advice up to now guys. Keep it coming.

Other than the tranny I'm all set up and ready to rumble. Its all I can do not to run my stocker but id hate to ruin it. Then again they like they aren't worth much anyway so maybe I'll just do it and be gentle. My mBL motor is a pretty mild stock associated version anyway so it might not be too hard on the stock tranny.

Other option instead of getting a used b stamp is a re-re chassis.

One of the new chassis Team associated is making for the rc10 re release. So far they are offering the gold and the black as well as offering the new nose and motor plates in those colors as well.

ok up and running now: brushless/2.4GHz

new problem: i'm only getting about a minute or two of light running before the battery dies.

the battery is two years old but brand new... iow i bought it two years ago, on advice from this thread, but only just now getting around to using it. for the record, it's this on here:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-30c-4000-2s1p-hardcase-direct.html

i don't mind starting fresh and ordering up a new one (or two) but what killed this one? i don't want to repeat the problem.

Like a fool I've been running my newly brushless old gold rc10 with the speed controller, receiver, switch, antenna just loose inside the chassis, (battery was properly held though). I did this because I've been afraid of committing to a particular layout for the speed control/receiver/on off switch. Any recommendations?

Yep... Battery was improperly stored for the last 2 years. I would charge it full and it would run like gangbusters but it had almost no duration. Anyhow problem solved. I sucked it up and got a couple of new batteries and it works great now.

i wonder if i fried my speed controller? for just an instant, i put a charged battery on it reverse polarity, (don't ask how)... now throttle doesn't work, and i get no initializing beeps. but steering works fine. is is typical to ruin a speed controller with just an instant of reverse polarity? it's an associated XP sc450 brushless...

yes that can happen. Some esc's have reverse polarity protection, but not all. You might want to check the instruction manual, but more than likely you probably popped something.

this is the manual i got with mine, and the only one on TA's web site that i could find. it's basically one page folded pamphlet. mentions a lot of stuff but nothing about reverse polarity protection:

http://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/shared/xpsc450-bl-esc_manual.pdf

i ordered a brand new/takeoff from ebay, same make and model to replace this one. might send my burned one to associated to see what they can do with it.
