I believe the gull wing shock tower were on some of the early versions of the SWB CAT and also the XL. Besides the upper arm brace is slightly narrower than the shock tower (well it is on my Corally XL anyway).

Chris - my understanding is in line with yours. The rear shock towers were definitely gull wing on the early CATS (SWB and early XLs). Also, the shock tower is wider than the upper arm brace in the middle section (the pictures in the original SWB manual and box that I have confirm this).
So, I think the carbon fibre version in the picture at the top of this thread is in line with the original. I had the SWB fibre glass parts repro'd by Fibre Lite quite some time back and my parts look exactly the same as the ones in the picture above.
Having seen previous examples of carbon fibre CATs, I thought I would go down the same route with my second CAT SWB. I arranged for Fibre Lyte to copy my spare set of SWB fibre-glass components. These included the top deck, chassis, steering rack,...

Very impressive build! Good luck with further tuning... perhaps a higher turn motor will make it easier to control? No??? Is there such thing as TOO MUCH POWER??? I don't know...
I paused my restore projects for awhile and worked on my Optima Mid runner project. I have chosen to build my runner based on the SWB platform. I want a shorter car because of the layout of our local track.

I am still waiting for one to pop up on ebay for a decent price. Would like to do the stickboy electric conversion to the buggy version with the PRO-x body. aperently no one in europe is selling one, and the ones in US are like $300 whilst beaten.
This is my first time posting pics and would like to present my SWB cat. A friend of mine had one of these BITD and to me it was the most awesome 4wd racer then. It took me about 2 years to find my XLS this SWB took me around 3 years of searching. I...

Mate,
That is a really clean looking swb CAT, they are really rare and simply deserves a new shell. Save yourself a lot of grief...just get a body from Mr Lexan and be done with it. I removed the paint on mine as I did not have that option at the...
Finally have finished what I bought about 8 years ago :D This is an original swb cat that was converted to an xl but the owner kept the original chassis plates and middle belt also has the original grey bumper (not pictured) in one piece ...
