My Victor Engineering Sr charger.

Post by vintagerccar »

Hello Guys,
I bought this charger for 30 euros including shipment in France(approximatively 39 US Dollars).
I owned several years ago the standard version(black case with white inscriptions).
I used it to charge/discharge my Ni-Cd accumulators and check my motors.
I saw on an Australian board that the can be changed to charge Ni-Mh accumulators.
Does anybody realise this modification because i would like to use it again to charge my Ni-Mh :?: .

It was an option that allowed to charge with thermal cut-off.
It use a type K thermal sensor.

Image

The old thermal sensor was damaged by the years of use.

With new sensor the indicated temperatrure was false.
You can tune easily the indicated temperature by moving the two potentiometers showed in the following picture  .
The top potentiometer is used to obtain a fine tuning while the bottom potentiometer is used to approach the reached value.
You can control the indicated temperature by using hot water and an infrared thermometer.

The type K sensor(alumel-chromel) is polarized and should respect + and -.
Image

I bought the sensor for less than 4 euros.

The charger can be connected to an computer(same plug as old printer it seems)

Internal components has been hidden in order to prevent unauthorised copies.

All the parameters can be easily changed by using this keypad.
Image

User interface is only available in English.
Image

The heat exchanger allowed a cool temperature in any time.

I remember(but not sure) to have bought in 1990/1992 the standard version for approximatively 2500 francs(euros appears in 2000 and before the french money was franc that give approximatively 492 US dollars)
See you soon.
