Vols A&L
was fiddling with my A&L a bit today (far too much time on my hands at present). i was just getting ready to trim a rear bulkhead and realised an RPM rear bulkhead wouldn't need altering, the rest took care of itself. very long way off yet but i couldnt help assembling what i could as i'm pretty impatient. i'm not sure whether to go ahead with the rc10t front nose or not but i've had fun mocking it up (i need to drill a couple of holes in the nose tubes if i did). i know it's not period correct or anything but i just thought i'd share it with you, sorry for the poor photo quality, i just used my phone.

Re: Vols A&L
interesting, you could also use the RC10GT front tube mounts to stiffen the front end, but then you'll need to hack the nose plate a bit...

Re: Vols A&L
it isn't what i had planned at all, i was going much more original to begin with, but as soon as i put the bulkhead on i just carried on. we'll see where it goes from here. i may revert back to plan A as i've got pretty much most of the bits for it really.

if so, i cant seem to find a diagram on how i could use it.
thanks richie and tad, but i'm still not sure this is the way forward for me. i only mocked this up out of chance, but i really liked the way it looked. but the front end isn't really practical.
if i can make it work well then it may stay, just to do something different to my friend (who's doing an A&L also).

Re: Vols A&L
Yes, it is from the University of Tennesee, short for the Volunteers.

I lived around there for a bit and never understood why they would make that a name Volunteers. It must be a redneck thing

Re: Vols A&L
I think it had something to do with Tennessee having more volunteers than any other state for one of the World Wars. Don't remember exactly.RC Chick wrote:I lived around there for a bit and never understood why they would make that a name Volunteers. It must be a redneck thing
EDIT:
Just found this:
Tennessee
Tennessee has had several nicknames, but the most popular is “The Volunteer State.” The nickname originated during the War of 1812, in which the volunteer soldiers from Tennessee, serving under Gen. Andrew Jackson, displayed marked valor in the Battle of New Orleans.
Apparently, in eighteen and fourteen they took a little trip
along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip.
They took a little bacon and they took a little beans,
And they caught the bloody British near the town of New Orleans.
Sorry, could not resist.
