XX/XX CR

Post by FasterLouder »

Just pieced this sucker together out of new parts I had in my Losi parts bin...I have a NIP CR rear suspension update kit,but I've already gone and bought a A8008 body for it.
I wanted to build just a plain Jane, all plastic XX,or XX CR.
All of my other XX variants are Graphite everything,I thought it'd be good to build and have something different on the shelf.
Did the XX CR use an Excellerator body,or was it a different body, again?
God,finding a CR decal sheet would be impossible, too.
I've been box arting 99% of my shelfers and this car will be no exception.

Man,finding NIP rear 5 spoke rims is tough!
The price of XX bulkheads and front arms is getting silly-JRX era equivalents are way cheaper, for Gil's sake!

Here she is,anyway, still need to grab a new front bumper ,motor plate,a new rear tower and mount the wing.
If anyone can help out with any of these parts,it would be much appreciated!
Had a spare Dirtinator motor,so that went in,too.
I'm a sucker for the XX front swaybar kits, too, something a little different. :)

CR's had the CR body kind of a duck tail rear, not many around.
Are you only looking for NIP stuff?? I may have a used motor plate or 2 and rear shock tower.
S.S. TIG welding filler wire works ace for rear wing mount.

Nice looking build!!

As Luke says the CR body had the little ducktail spoiler on the back part of the shell, it was quite boxy & square in design & proved to be the least popular of the XX shells - most racers would choose the smoother Xcellerator when it came to replacing the kit shell, hence why they seem so rare now!

A CR would have also been supplied with the dog-bone style driveshaft & corresponding diff halves & would have also been supplied with the 'lollypop' stick battery strap rather than the velcro straps of the early cars

Thanks!
I'll use the A8008 body if I don't use the CR kit and keep the sliders on there.
I do have one other body,I think it's a ProLine,nice shape,too.

I didnt know you guys were brothers?? :P

8008 body looks to boxy to be on that car, proline looks to be nicer and would suit maybe a racers choice of body on his CR.
