rc10t2 diff, side to side play??

so i got a bunch of stuff for a build, not quite all there yet, but i figured doing the trans/diff will keep me psyched on keeping with the parts hunting

so....diff is silk, got everything plopped into the t2 case, spaced the top shaft right, check for end play and i was happy,...... until i checked the diff for the same, theres maybe a mm of side to side play, the outdrives slide across the bearing races

my question is, are there shims of some kind to sure up the diff against the case bearings? i cant remember ever needing to do so with an associated... or is this normal?

You could probably use TC3/4 diff shims if needed.

Im cleaning up my original rc10 buggy. The battery trays are mounted side to side and i would like to keep it that way so i can run the original mechanical speed control. Problem is none of my stick packs fit. I had a junk 6 cell so i opened it up...

you would eventually damage the MSC, simply due to the fact that the lipo will likely have a much longer run time, resulting in overheating the resistors. they get smokin' hot running for 4-8 minutes, much longer and the parts will start to degrade.

Are there any commonly available packs that will fit a traditional rc10 with a manual speed controller?

I was looking a this it’s only 5 cells though.

I use 1800 nimh stick packs, remove the plastic end caps & re-shrinkwrap. They fit.

Thanks Steve, that wasn't the problem though. The nuts were going on more than far enough, and were just spinning off as soon as I hit the throttle. As someone correctly pointed out, the nylon in the lock-nuts must've been worn out. New lock-nuts...
