There were a few shipments sent out early and today is the day for delivery to the hobby shops that actually got to place an order for this shipment. I should be getting mine by this weekend and will be doing a complete review at my site on it. I have been waiting for Team Associated to do this for ages, finally make a 4wd they can call their own ;).

Tower's price is a little high, I got mine from Ultimate Hobbies for $299 shipped!

When was the last time you saw a BJ4 sell for less than $150? I haven't seen one sell for cheap in a long time and the last one I saw was all ruffed up, badly!

I'm not sure what a BJ4 is but I recently bought a factory team T4 for $140 that was rtr. I fgure the radio and esc to be worth $40 so essntially I bought the truck for a hundy.

There just isn't a market for used high end cars. I bought (Oh dang we just had another earth quake!) four xray t1's for around $100-$120 a piece.

This is the BJ4: http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=45&zenid=2ff8baa723c07133f98c06cc554b153f

This is what the B44 is based (copied) from. I guess it will drive the used prices down now since they will be massed produced by Associated.

Another one? I'm going to be up there on business later tonight until Friday. Oh well, such is life in CA. :D I think I'll wait a bit too on the purchase. I bet towers price goes down to 299 in a few weeks.

I was under the impression that associated made all the parts for the BJ4 and then decided to release one for their own profit. They changed the name and kept the price roughly the same as the BJ4 so people that already had ordered it wouldn't get screwed. That's what I was told but who knows the real truth

Jason Ruona(he owns JConcepts here in Florida) designed the BJ4 from the ground up. Team Associated stepped in during then past year or so with production help. The B44 was a design done by Team Associated with the help of Jason Ruona. It's basically a copy of the BJ4 but it does have a few improvements (can't recall them right now though).

Correct, it was a joint effort from Jason and the boys from AE. I think BJConcepts will continue to market the BJ4 and add to the class of 4wds.

Sorry for the long thread. Probably posted before.

The press release:

New Product. For Immediate Release: 7/10/07
The Factory Team B44 project came
to life in 2003 as a cooperative effort
between Team Associated and
J Concepts’ Jason Ruona and Brad
Reelfs. After Team Associated’s Ryan
Cavalieri won the 2005 IFMAR World
Championships in Collegno, Italy with the
BJ4 Worlds Edition, Area 51 shifted into
overdrive to produce a true ‘Associated’
inspired 4WD buggy that would continue to
dominate the 4WD off road racing class.
The B44 is the result of this two-year
development effort.
During the design and development stages Associated used their
extensive and well-proven skills to make a 4WD competition buggy that
is better suited to production. The results of this optimization are
realized by you, the customer, in a more cost-effective vehicle with
more readily available spare parts.
The B44 is built on a 2.5mm woven carbon fiber main chassis and top plate. What’s new is the
composite front bulkhead and rear chassis plate. These new features greatly improve overall
durability and increase the ground clearance, further enhancing the B44's performance.
Area 51 designers also improved the BJ4’s slipper clutch. The result is the B44’s new externally
adjustable, dual pad slipper clutch, which transfers power to the ground more efficiently and
effectively.
The B44 employs a hardened steel CVA drivetrain with lightened ball differentials for unparalleled
acceleration. The B44 soaks up the bumps using Factory Team hard anodized aluminum threaded
shocks with gold shock shafts. The shocks mount to durable 3mm woven carbon fiber shock towers,
making the B44 more responsive and giving quicker handling.
The B44 gets the full Factory Team treatment with blue titanium turnbuckles, blue aluminum shock
bushings and blue aluminum servo mounts for a car that looks as good as it is fast!
Many Team Associated fans from all over the world have asked us when we are going to build a
4WD buggy. Team Associated is proud to say that day has come with the B44, the only 4WD electric
race buggy that comes from a racing heritage with 20 IFMAR World Championships behind it.

Has anyone heard that from the horses mouth so to speak? I heard another (not very nice) story today from a JC factory driver, but it's not for internet forums :(
