My old is new / fun runner build.
My old is new / fun runner build.
Well here is a pic of an old is new, fun runner build I have been working on. I tried to update a few things with some of the new technology.
It has a few custom parts for show and also function.
Front big bore shocks and custom shock tower.
Rear big bore shocks and custom shock tower.
Custom transmission brace.
Custom battery hold down.
Ball milled motor plate.
I finally got it all together yesterday and ran it for the first time. I have a few bugs to work out but all in all I am pretty happy with it.
I do need to find a different front servo for it. Can anyone recommend an Airtronics servo part number?
I also need to order a body for it. Any recommendations on where I can find one?
Thanks,

Thanks for the compliment.
The mill is a Klausing Kondia with a Prototrak MX2 Controller.

Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
Thanks again for the compliments.
Yes those are newer style rims. They are from DE racing. The tires are from Proline.
That's just one corner of the workshop you should see the rest. LOL

Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
can you elaborate on your rim and suspension mods to fit the rims if any. did you use the rc10b4 rear carriers etc?
Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
I used DE racing wheels for the B4.
I used the bones from MIP for the rc10.
The axles are from either the b44 or the b4.
Cant remember which one.
I know one if them has the bell on the axle and the other is on the bone.
The only otherthing i used was custom works rear wheel spacers.
I did machine them just a little to fit the DE rear rims.
The front was just a bearing swap.
Hope this helps. If no one esle chimes in im sure i can figure out which axles i used.

Sorry I forgot to mention they are associated worlds rear hub carriers
Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
I checked last night. I used b4 rear axles. I also used the associated tapered washers behind the drive pins.

Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
Cool car and shop! Can you explain more about how you machined the shock towers, and why they're bolted to the aluminum?
Liquid rc on eBay has the best deal on bodies!

Re: My old is new / fun runner build.
I drill and tap the aluminum block first. Then I clamp the material to the aluminum block and drill the holes. I then run the screws thru the holes in the material into the tapped holes in the fixture. This allows me to run the contour with no clamps in the way. Now you all know my secret LOL.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Brian
