Woodworkers

Just wondering how many of you are woodworkers, professional or hobby. Traditional or modern.

Steelworker by trade , I hate the travelling so gave it up last year . I do custom woodwork from home now . You ?

Trained in plank on frame boat building (carvel and lap) But have gone into custom furniture. In my boat building and restoring there was the need at times to recreate fittings. So pattern making and casting became a part of my "service". In the custom work that has helped in being able to offer a nice combination of wood and metal (mostly bronze). Having worked with metal in this way I got interested in machining. Now I'm trying to bring that aspect into the work. It's also why I'm interested in 3d printing for the ease of creating patterns for casting. A little pyro tendencies also help that along. I know what you mean with the traveling. I hate site work and can really only do my best work in a shop (my shop preferably) What style of work do you do?

WOW I cant believe you made that, the boat looks great!, and I was going to say that I did a great job at bring an old desk back to life Not much of a woodworker, but do enjoy the hobby, from time to time. I'm a metal worker/polisher/welder by trade.

made a china cabnet for my mom in 9th grade .. 9 1/2 ft tall all pine .. seberated at the base for transport .. the glass was 2mm for sides and front .. 5mm for shelves



later i made a corner cabnet for my neice out of ash and stained to look like oak

after i got into cars i started making sub boxes and custom install into my cars






but as for a trade i started out cooking till i got bunt out as a kitchen manger so started in automotive and like it alot better

i like making somthing out of nothing

Hey, I built a boat once! It was a theater prop, so no, it didn't float, but it sure looked good in stage fog!

I made my dad a cedar box in 8th grade.....

My dad was a good woodworker and I wish I got a 10th of his skill. I'm about as talented as a raisin when it comes to woodworking but I love doing it, as long as I'm lead in the process.

thanks i wanted to get into custom cabnets but there wasnt anywhere rear us that was doing it so do it when i can as a hobby
