T4 hex conversion and Slash 2wd 2.2/3.0 wheels & tires?

Post by sbsyncro »

Hey guys,

With all the Traxxas cars we already have, I've got quite a few sets of wheels (and some tires) that fit the 12mm hex pattern. After spending way too much time researching tires and wheels that will fit then stock T4.1 I got frustrated and decided to go with what I know. I bought the parts to do a front and rear hex conversion on the T4 along with some Proline Split 6 2.2/3.0 wheels and some Caliber tires. This is what all the SC truck guys race on at the local track. I've also got some 2.2/3.0 Badlands for just general bashing.

So, my question is, does anyone know if using 2WD Slash front wheels will be an issue all the way around? For the life of me I could not find offset information for the stock AE wheels, so I'm shooting in the dark with these tires & wheels.

I've used Slash wheels on my SC10B. The offset hasn't been a problem (I like the extra width) but on all of my fronts, the recess for the nut is too small to get an 11/32 nut driver down in there. I'm not sure if that'll be a problem with those proline wheels but it's definitely a problem with AKA's.

Thanks for the data! I picked up like 6 bags of NIB proline split six 2.2/3.0 wheels on eBay for $12 or something ridiculous like that so I've been using them on everything. Plus it's fun to dye them obnoxious colors. :)

Pics of T4 with 2.2/3.0 SC wheels and Caliber Tires

Just finished installing some new wheels and tires (along with a 12mm hex conversion kit and STRC aluminum hexes). Figured people might be interested to see how it looks. I took it to the track today and the handling is NIGHT AND DAY as many of you probably can imagine. First, here's a "before" picture when I got the truck in a box of junk from a garage sale:

And here it is with the Castle brushless upgrade, Hitec servo, and some new goodies including the wheels and tires (pardon the quick & dirty battery retainer…). The wheels are Proline Split Six Slash 2wd Fronts all the way around.
