So I finally got around to modelling up some parts and sending them to shapeways. I'm curious what you guys use to paint parts? I'm looking to do, a glossy black and chrome sprays. These are trim pieces for a build such as mirrors and bumper parts for a scaled version of my 1:1 truck.
Can regular rattle can auto or hobby spray paint be used to paint parts like the headlight backs silver? Or do you need water based paints?
I got a set of Jelly bean wheels that came to me painted silver that appears to be painted with rattle can...

I don't know if you've painted them yet, but I wanted to chime in with my 2 cents ...
... firstly, if you are set on painting the wheels, I would recommend soaking them in brake fluid first (which may actually remove the paint), or at least...
I am, by no means a professional painter but have painted lexan bodies in many scales over the years... many years. I've done 1/24 and HO scale slot car bodies, starting in the late 60's.
This is going to be as much as a step by step of my way of...

Well, I was going to get all fancy like and use an airbrush but my equipment was in sad shape... bummer. I'll have to pick up a new one or try to rebuild it. To keep moving forward and have a painted body for this month's (Feb) build contest I...
I am going to be airbrushing the body for my restore of a RC10 B stamp Kit 6011. I have an airbrush and know how to use it but need to know what brand of paint is good for the lexan bodies? Kind of would like to get a list together of what I will...

Hi, is there a custom painter you would reccommend to do a nice job on rc10 shell. I have PM'd several but get no response, I know it's hard to get work done at this time of year. I don't want anything fancy . Also do you guys run your car with a...

Hi Todd, thanks for the reply, this car is becoming obsessive to me.
welcome to the madness Mick  .
I don't want to spoil it with a bodgey paint job from me,
know what you mean. Got quite a few projects waiting for paint. Problem is I can...
Apparently at some point I bought a tub and buggy nose off eBay (recently too, surprised the heck out of me when I found it in my bin), and it looked like it had been stripped and painted metallic blue. Has anybody had success stripping the chassis...

I just did one of mine. Just scuffed it really well with fine sand paper, primed it with self etching primer and painted it with about 5 coats of semi gloss black tremclad. It's hard to tell it apart from a powder coat or ano job but i'm sure it's...
Next quick project is to restore my RC10T. Its going to be for display only so I was wondering if it would be OK to just spray paint the chassis black to hide the wear marks? (its black already) Or would this really ruin it? Bottom is pretty beat up...
