Hi Everyone -
I'm restoring a 1988 YZ-10 here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=41529.
I'm rebuilding the diffs now and need some new ball bearings. In each diff, there is a single 4x8mm ball bearing in the pulley and two ball bearings (that look identical to the 4x8mm) in one of the outdrives, for a total of three small bearings in each diff.
Does anyone know if the bearings in the diff outdrive are truly identical to the one in the pulley? The outdrive bearings are not mentioned in the manual, perhaps because those were pre-installed in the kit?
What would be top-quality replacement bearings? Do I need to find vintage Yokomo bearings or is there a modern replacement?
Thank you in advance,
Brian

Re: Yokomo YZ-10 Diff Bearings?
Yeah there the same diffs that's here in the works cars, I've never matched them up to see if they are they same as any others on the cars

Re: Yokomo YZ-10 Diff Bearings?
So what would everyone use to replace the 4x8mm bearings in a YZ-10?
Re: Yokomo YZ-10 Diff Bearings?
The diffs int he picture should be the same as the older yz10,
In the parts list. it just says 4x8mm for diffs. get 4 or 6 if yours has 3. but i think they have 2 and a thrust washer/bearing.

Ok, thanks!
So I'm just going to order a pack of 4x8x3mm ball bearings and they should be fine, at least as good as the stock bearings from 30 years ago?
Does it matter if I get "rubber" sealed bearings or something else?
I think it's dawning on me that these are pretty noob questions, sorry about that... I want my restored YZ-10 to be super smooth and learning as I go.
