my freaking zuk put a hole in my garage...

Post by badhoopty »

get this... today on my way out to my garage to do some brazing on a crawler project i see the tailgate of my samurai literally poking through the white vinyl siding of my garage. i had been working the night before in the bed of the zuk, (it makes a nice little workbench) and didnt close the tailgate when i was done...

at first i thought i was going crazy, or maybe i sleptwalked or something wild or paranormal. its a very strange feeling knowing something had to have happened to make it move about 5' with enough force to punch a hole in the wall. i just stood there for quite awhile not knowing what to think or maybe that i was going to wake up...

anyway, long story short the starter somehow shorted out and turned itself on sometime during the night. i had just washed the engine bay and underneath real real thouroughly earlier that day, maybe that had something to do with helping the starter just decide to turn on.

check it out.
the hole (and one of the marks on the floor from the tires spinning...)

the tire mark on the other side, and the paint can box that helped stop the rig.

and the starter...

wild eh?

has anybody else here ever had something like this happen?

years ago back in kansas a farmer had one of those HUGE john deere tractors somehow turn the starter on one night and it drove into and a little bit over his farm truck. it was speculated that it got hit by lightning.

Very funny!

Sometimes the electric / electronic (switches) goes wet. Then you hace effects like this.

You´re a lucky guy! If you parket your car at the street, that was not good, if your car would have a heavy acident with other cars/persons.

Would be a good story for the X-files!

Maybe you watch too much TV, J/K, I know you barely have time to browse the forums...

Parked in reverse? I'll guess no functioning parking brake, either. Good thing it wasn't in low range. Better sneak that starter back together so you don't get burned on the core charge.

Who's passing it off as good? You're turning it in for a core. It's not like you're the ONLY guy who's fried something and then turned it in to a recycler.

Now you know why it's a bad idea to buy rebuilt stuff! LOL

AHA!

looks to be the result of a stupid relay... it was mounted sideways, and i assume always had a little pool of water in it.

I think you need to get rid of that thing. First it tried to kill you on the street and now it tried to drive away on its own! Dude that zuk is possesed. RUN WHILE YOU CAN
