Ronbo's Re RE 870C to Cliff Lett YZ-10 Theme EXODESIGN chassis
Got the EXODesign carbon fiber chassis with white wheels for the Re Re 870/YZ10, and possibly Works 91 (picking up Saturday). I like the box, pretty nice. Going to go with Cliff Lett 90s ROAR car as a theme, as it was what inspired the paint scheme (team car) I ran when I had my original YZ10. Which, IIRC, the box was the 870c, but I always had the YZ10 body. Just need to order a body, probably the AE one. I've only seen one place offer it so far.
Probably will order some FANRC works arms to use with longer wheelbase, once I figure out which driveshafts I need.

I've been debating if I want to get that conversion. Look forward to seeing your build.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Looks like Boki, TeamBluegroove and RRP (NIP) have YZ-10 bodies. Picked up my Works 91 Re re kit. Going to make room on car workbench to lay this stuff out more.

When you get a chance can you confirm if the kit comes with the shock mounting point extension set (4PCS)? I could not tell from the photos and list on the page and EXO is not answering.
This is the part I am talking about https://exorcdesign.com/products/yz009-yz870c-yz10-shock-mounting-point-extention-set-4pcs?variant=45607286833382

Nothing in the instructions that looks like that kit, but there is hardware to mount shocks but no shock bushings. Mine is the reg shock version, not big bore. Should be able to use the stock parts in kit with this. Ill take a picture of all the parts laid out.

Well, the kit wont build itself... might as well build while watching TV. I usually build in garage, but cars dont take up as much space as hydro or airplane...
Although I did build a nitro heli in living room one time, but I did ask the wife!
Here is supplement and the parts in conversion kit. This chassis, while representing the 89 WCS of Masami, is wider than my conversion for my Original covered here on forums.

Re: Ronbo's Re RE 870C to Cliff Lett YZ-10 Theme EXODESIGN chassis
Well, this was last night. I had to quit as my back was hurting and it was late. A few miscues, but I do like the sequence of order regarding the bags in the build.
Question for those that have built sealed diffs like this, do I coat the gears with enough of the 5000 lube, or empty the bottle in both diffs? I just put enough, about 1/4, of it in each diff to coat the gears.

Oil gear diffs i generally fill them to over the crosspin. Turn it a bit after to make sure the voids are filled then add more to bring it back to just over the crosspin againRonbo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 6:39 pm Well, this was last night. The black cases, I couldnt tell if there is a fill line. Didnt notice in instructions. But Ill fill to the cross over pins.
Anyway, got as far as I could today as I have questions that need fitting....I didn't feel like messing with shocks. The EXODesign kit is nice, its all installed now. Using rear arms in front and 3d printed from Shapeways when we could still get them (they are not listing anything now) with some 3d printed knuckles I had from my Masami build. I need some ZC423 rear universals, already had 422, couple sets left. I've got some works 91/92 arms from RRP coming , as well as the re re YZ10 body etc.
Also confirmed after tightening the tie rod ends, I messed one up completely. Its disappointing how much we pay Yokomo for this and they went cheap metal. Also worried about the new style bulkheads, feel like pot metal...
I did have these aftermarket front /rear shock towers that might be closer to the shape Cliff Lett used in the RCCA magazine article.
Just need longer universals, and figure out my camber steering rod lengths and more wheel adapters for width.
Since I have questions what the differences are, I decided to start the Works 91 build, Masami painted on its way. ...

Re: Ronbo's Re RE 870C to Cliff Lett YZ-10 Theme EXODESIGN chassis
Looking over the RCCA article and the build in the Yoke section, I forgot I needed to convert (or try) to AE rod ends. And I just couldn't pass up getting a proper fit Jammin Jay Upper deck from Factory Works. I tried swapping it out, but it was too tight. Took off the front tower to compare the extra set of towers I already have (apparently from the Fiberlyte site, these are Works 92 F/R towers I ordered for my OG 89WCS) and then fitted the Jammin deck. Installed the front tower and fits nice and tight.
Waiting on order from rubrixrc and JC racing. Need to decide what electronics to put in.
