New to the Old stuff....

Post by klavy69 »

OK, first question is what do I have? Then where do I go from here  . New to the whole vintage thing here. Have had the tub rc10gts but never really gotten into anything electric til last winter on another board where I kinda got hooked. Picked these up from the LHS with some intentions of parts scavaging for another brand but they just seemed too good to lower the parts to brand T. I guess its the collector in me. I end up with more projects this way.First one looks to be a buggy and the second a truck chassis(mr.obvious here) but thats as far as I go...heres the pix(sorry for the crappy pix...old camera):

As you can see there is a very major part missing from the truck...anyone happen to have one laying around...or a part number so I can look  ? I have shocks for it I believe. What you see is what I got. Where would you go from here with either of them? Thanx and hope to hear from some of you vintage gurus.

this is the nose plate you need for the 10t............

http://www.liquidrc.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=rc10t+nose+plate

you'll also need the screw kit for it that attaches the plate itself, and also the steering bellcrank.

Hi Todd. Welcome!

The buggy is an RC10 Team Car and the truck appears to be the Team truck. At first glance, there are some pretty nice upgrades there, too - MIP steering kit, MIP change box transmission, litesink motor plate and what appear to possibly be titanium turnbuckles.

If they were mine, they'd be runners, for sure...

Most of the missing parts can be easily found. Nice find. Keep us posted!!

Tecnacraft turnbuckles on both cars...lots of nice vintage hop-ups there.

Now I am going to ask a question so don't be offended...

If you'd care to swap your MIP steering which I need as the last bit of my 4wd MIP Legends kit for a Losi bell crank set, and some cash I'd be very grateful. Pm me if you can help.

Thanx for the link scr8p. Got them on order with a body for now. Thanx for the info and comments guys. Where should I go with them now. They will be runners but lookin for ideas on what you vintage gurus would do with them.
Couple of questions though. I have some 3 piece associated buggy wheels that are 2.00 inch. Should I use these and where would I find a good set of tires? OR should I go with a bigger rim for tire selection? I'd love to get a set of jellybeans aluminums from bugle(I think is who it was) if he decides to start a production of them but that would push it towards a shelf queen and I don't think that is where my intentions should be  I allready have a bad habit of wanting to 'collect' and its gotta slow down since I'm runnin out of room. Another question is even though the dif is extremely clean and smooth is it gonna hold up to BL power? What should I expect when I put some power to this tranny?
Thanx again.

Hey Todd, Welcome to this forum. We're just following each other around! You have some pretty nice rc10's there, if it were me I would make them into runners and dye the dyed parts black. But thats mee, I don't like it when parts are dyed wierd colors.

Those 3-piece wheels will bolt right on and they are the proper original size (the Team Car actually came with solid wheels). You can still get 2.0" tires - here's a couple of choices:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJG70&P=7

You can use modern 2.2" buggy wheels and tires, however, it will take a bit of effort and extra parts to make it work. Take a look:

I've run both the Novak SS5800 and Castle's Mamba 5700 brushless setups with the Stealth and never had any problems. I haven't run the change box configuration, but I assume it would hold up just as well with similar power.

Mark,
Yep, when I seen your markt311 at CR's site I was gonna drop a link to here like justinspeed did for me but when I seen your trx1racer with Mark as a signature I figured you all ready knew about it :) . Don't like wierd colors either but I think I'm gonna see how the truck turns out before going black with them. The pix of mine kinda suck but prior owner actually did a decent job...for it being purple. Not to mention I haven't done any cleaning on these 2 yet so with the dust, mud and great color combinations they don't look like much.

aeiou,
Thanx for the tires links. Pry end up with the losi step pins. gonna see if the LHS can order them in for me first. Like supporting the locals if all possible. He doesn't do any losi but it might just give him a reason to get some tires in. I had an idea to keep to do something like in the other thread you dropped since I have pretty much all the parts layin around but am torn into doing something vintage lookin or doin the modern vintage on these. If it gets too fancy I'll have a hard time runnin the others off the track  .

Thanx to all who have helped so far...keep the comments coming if you want to help out a newbie in vintageland.
