Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
Hello everyone I am new to this forum and I just wanted to share my story with you all.
I got this RC10T from a guy who said he did have the time to mess with it and it was sitting in his garage under a bunch of other boxes and it took me about 15 mins worth of digging to find the box...lol
Anyways I finally found it and took it home, when I got home and took it out I realized it isnt in to bad of shape but I do have a long haul ahead of me in restoring it back to its glory it also came with extra parts, the original manual, and to Slot Machine Motors...
I am a firm believer that no vintage aka Old (lol) RC should be throwin into the trash or be left to sit for years and years....
Well here we go,all insight from everyone is greatly appreciated.
This is my very first Resto Project...
First things first...Is this the original RC10T or the RC10T Team Truck? the manual says 1991...

Re: Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
I think the Team Truck had the hard anodized shocks and the graphite transmission brace. Associated also sold an RC10T with bushings. If that truck had bushings, ball bearings would be the most important upgrade.

Yes the Team Truck came with Hard anodized shocks ,Bearings and Universal swingshafts instead of dog bones.
It looks to me like an Original that some one has replaced some of the white parts with black ones.

Re: Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
I think that's the original RC10T as it has the the Gold Shocks, the black front arms might be either RPM after market replacements or Associated 10t arms from a later model.
That's a nice looking truck none the less, the scratches can go away with a good re-anodizing job or powdercoating (which is what I'm doing to mine
).
As for the suggestion of the ball bearings, I very highly recommend you do it
I will run a lot smoother and a lot cooler

What do you mean, all you need are some white front arms, and the white little body posts, and you've got an original. The Hybrid wrote:thanx guys...kinda a bummer it not all original though...oh well wont stop the resto project...

Re: Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
Welcome to the site! Glad to hear you were able to save it from hittin' the old dusty bin. Does it have bushings? From the pics it looks like it could be a #7011 rc10t sport truck (gold shocks and bushings, only the team trucks had grey telfon coated shocks and bearings).
Old school racing all the way!

thanx for the compliments...resto starts this Saturday (day off)
Re: Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
I can't tell from the picture. But do you have the three piece front and rear wheels? As the RC10T came with those as well.

If you look at the face of the wheels, and they have holes and screws, then they're the 3 piece chicken meal....
I mean 3 piece wheels

Re: Restoration Project: Associated RC10T
well the tear down happened today and to my surprise under about 10 layers of dirt and grease, the tranny is the white one and not the black like I originally thought.
Tomorrow I plan on stripping the old black paint off the frame and repainting it...haven't decided what color yet...
Also if someone has a spare pair of white front arms LMK...I have some black ones I'm not sure if they're RPM or Associated, but I want the original white ones...
Pics coming tomorrow!!!
