RPM RC10T Find

Post by johnqpublic »

Just got it yesterday. Not bad for 65 bucks...shipped! I think it will clean up nicely. This is actually my first 10T, and I'm open to suggestions on what to do with it.

It looks like it has Associated rear suspension mounts and hub carriers, so they will have to be changed. The battery brace is broken, so I'll need another one of those. Unfortunately a previous owner hacked some holes in the chassis to put a zip tie around the servo. Everything else looks unmolested.

Can anyone tell me what would be the correct antenna mount? Did RPM make one? Same question on servo mounts.

I was in a bit of a hurry this morning, so sorry about the crappy pics...enjoy and discuss......

Congrats! It looks like you got a nice deal on a complete ultra molded truck. If it were mine, I’d clean it up and run it. About the only thing I’d change would be to replace that Litesink mount with a standard AE mount to stiffen up the rear end.

RPM did make a couple of antenna mounts that work on the ultra molded kits:

#70512 - Bottom Mount
#70612 - Side / Shock Tower Mount

Neither came with the ultra molded kits, but later versions of the molded's battery cover came pre-drilled for a bottom style mount. Here’s a picture of a 70512 (that's not the original screw):

The RPM mounts are discontinued and rather hard to find. Of course, the Associated mounts and others work as well.

I don’t know if RPM made servo mounts back when the ultra molded kits were available, but they still make a nice servo post set today:

If you got everything in those pics for $65, Id have to say that was super deal. Cant wait to see that all cleaned up. Which Body you gonna use? Or should I ask, which Body is in the best shape?

Edit: Is that a Pair of Narrow Front Tires/Wheels I see there?!?!?
Ooops, you answered before I ask.

Yep, everything for $65! None of the bodies are in great shape, so I may try to find something else. I was very suprised to open the box and find the narrow front tires & rims!

I'm pretty busy, so it may take me a while to get this thing cleaned. I'll probably take the suggestion to use a stock motor plate for strength.

looks nice, if you don't use the litesink motor mount you could list it on ebay just saw one go for over a hundred bucks.

Seriously? Wow, it might be ebay bound!

Upon further inspection, it appears that my front bulkhead and front body mount are AE parts (remember, this is my 1st 10T). Neither piece has the RPM logo.

The body mounting posts are RPM, although they appear to be the current type not the OG style.

Yes it is. I'm always up early, and saw it at 5:30 am. I wasn't even thinking about picking up a 10T, but for the price, I knew it wouldn't last long so I grabbed it.
