I'm a Genius, Dumbass, or this has been done before?

Post by MONSTER »

In my experimentation (desperation!!) for Tire choices for my 10s, I came up with this...

I like them both. The Fat, Round one is a Regular 24-26mm (1.9-2.0??) TC Tire, the Low, Flat one (X Pattern) is a Narrow ??mm, for the same Rim size. The Round one is just a little too round. I could trim the Foam some to flatten it a bit, but would like to keep a little roundness on the edge. Should put a bit more rubber to the ground, instead of riding on the "corner" of of a Tire.

Thoughts...comments...??......beratements, chastizings???

Me personally I do not like the x pattern tire on the right there I have never had any luck runnin them. As far as suggestions I havnt none, except get some hard foams and trim them down like you said.

That's awesome looking, are you going to use those for an on road RC10 or for off road bashing??

How about trying some 26mm rally tires?? for off roading, HPI makes them also.

Check them out: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXM975&P=7

Awesome Idea.

Wasnt looking for anything specific, just some options. Im sure I'll be using this idea in some form or other though, unless someone can come up with a reason whyit shouldnt/wont work.

Either way, they look awesome, I would prefer the wider tire over the skinny tire, but they both look awesome.

Mount it on the RC10 to see how does it look

wouldn't the subaru brat, fast attack rear wheels fit the diameter of the RC10 wheels.

what's the diameter of the rear rc10 wheels?? 1.5, 1.7, :?:

I think I saw it done once, they fitted sand blaster tires on rc10 wheels.

I would go with the rounder, taller tire...when you are turning, your tires are not perfectly flat. The shorter flat tire would be riding on the little tiny edge.

1.6 on the jelly bean rims.

If you're not too particular about the wheels you could use HPI's Vintage series of rims and tires. I've mounted them to my RC10 for on-road bashing. It requires the HPI wheel adapter kit for the rear and the Mod to mount TC wheels to the Traxxas axles and carries, but it looks pretty good.

Matter of fact, i've done the same Mod for my Grasshopper and it works great there too.

Now, if i could just get those old BRP adapters to mount TC wheels to pan cars.....
