tekin chassis ?

Post by rctenracer »

I have a nib champ car that came with all black parts. I recieved a tekin chassis nib from ebay. I plan to to combine both kits to build the tekin chassis kit to a complete car. Whats the active link all about . Do I need any other parts?

i believe the instruction describe the benefits of the active link suspension............. and how it works.

for it to work correctly, you'll need a pair of a-2038 losi rear hub carriers. if you plan on using the stub axles and dogbones from the c.e. kit, you'll need to get (4) 1/4 x 3/8 plain bearings.

the hub carriers are discontinued. just to mention, the a-2120 are the same style hub carrier. the 2038's are just the heavy duty version. either one will work.

custom works did have the exact same hub carriers for the gbx/gsx oval cars. the have redesigned them now, but still have the same part number (3241). if you can find the old version, they will work.

try giving kipp's an e-mail/call. on his site, he has a pic of the correct cw hubs you'd want. but he may only have the new versions in stock. just tell him your looking for the cw hubs that look like the old losi 2038's. he'll know what your talking about. if you strike out, i might have a new pair i could spare.

and to add some more.................

if you kit has the 2.0 3 piece rims (which it should), they won't work with the losi hubs. to set the rear up correctly, you need to use the lower hinge pin position in the carrier. because of that, the rims don't fit. you'd have to you the 2.0 1 piece rim.

if your not going to use the car, it would probably be alot easier to just use the stock rc10 hubs. they'll fit on the car just fine. but they don't allow the active link to work the best it could. sitting on a shelf, it's not really gonna matter.

Don't mess with that NIB team car to build that Tekin. Just get some shocks and a full nose of the Bay.

You have to take the nose plate and bend it to change the kick up. And I would hate to see you mess up that Team car.

And for wheels the team 3 piece 2" will work as long as the bolts aren't sticking out the back. or the 2" 1 piece wheels. with the losi hubs.

I don't know but the 3 piece wheels fit on my tekin anyway. I just tried it.

you don't have to do that, just like you don't have to use the losi hub carriers. with their testing, that seemed to be the best setup. i don't know anyone that would actually bend their noseplate, especially a new one nowadays, for a car that will most likely sit on the shelf. hell, i wouldn't even do it for a runner.
