Project RaceFoot

Post by animal »

Well iam a very happy person today I won the chassis i was bidding on the bay.I paid more than i wanted. But i wasn't going to lose this one. Its going to be the base of my build. So i thought i would share this project with everybody. My plan is to build this truck for the Vintage Nats. All i have right now is the The chassis and some of the thorp and crp parts I'am stll looking for for a Donor truck I found a few but i would like to find one with the thorp diff in it already just so i have some spares.

Here Is my ideal RaceFoot.

1 The Base= sassy Chassis with the belcrank steering
2 Trans = complete thorp trans9Would also like to find a belt drive tranny
3 Shocks = traxxas big bore shocks or factory team shocks. Can't make my mind up here yet
4 CRP = bearing inserts,Chassis stiffner(if it works on this chassis)
5 Bearings = from Avid
6 Wheels& tires= Stock blackfoot rims and proline tires
7 Custom front A-arms My plan here is to build a long travel front Arms and remove the bump steer that the blackfoot was plague with. Not sure if it will work. But it my mind it will.
* iam sure there is some more things i will improve on as the build goes on
9 Electronics = 4pk fast,LRP 13.6 reedy 35c lipo,Hitec servo 7955

i will post pics as i get the parts come in.And has i build the truck.Iam still looking for what ever goodies i can come up with.Anyway I look forward to everybodies thoughts and ideas and the critics. Please feel free to voice your opinion (I can handle it).I just want to build the Blackfoot i always wanted as a kid but couldn't afford back then.Enough of me talking now on to the pics.

I love that rear sway bar setup. I have a re-frog that I am setting up for racing. That bar looks like a must have.

I have this swaybar too for my frog but it binds like a mofo. I think it works better on the blackfoot than the frog since the Blackfoot has more mass.

Yeah, any kind of rear swaybar is a must when racing the Frog with newer rubber.....

Richie
Have you tried a lighter bar on the setup? It looks to be only music wire.
Let me know before I go killing myself fabbing one up. 8)
Thanks.

Looks like a few collers where the center of the bar meets the brackets might help it from shifting too.

Seeing how much you paid for yours, makes me want to sell mine. Pics would be good when you start assembly.

The trackmaster trans might not work in the Sassy chassis. It has a feature built into it to accept the stock battery door pin for the Brat/Frog, thus the result would be you'd have to cut a hole in the bottom of the chassis or remove the feature from the trans. I wanted to do the same thing on a Hot Trick chassis, but I ain't cutting either piece.

Thanks Mr lexan i didn't know any of that.I don't really want to cut anything.I have a pic here of a rar shock setup and i was wondering if anybody knows who made these rear shock mounts.I was thinking this would be a good rear setup for the racefoot
