Re: Tyre cleaning.
I've actually had good luck with using simple green to clean my tires up, and it does soften them up a tad in the process.

Re: Score - Traxxas Stampede +
Nice find! And it is the waterproof version as well! I can't even count how many bent kingpins I've seen and replaced on those. Couple taps with the hammer and I usually reused them in the traxxas vehicles...haha I would definatly stick with the RPM upgrades over aluminum as well. Aluminum looks pre...

Re: My 88 Avante
I have always loved the avante, and it looks like you have a very nice example of an original. My buddy actually has 2 of these, one that is stock, and one that is built with every OEM tamiya hop up, that one is pretty crazy looking. Both are shelf queens though.

Re: ESC Question
With the sidewinder I am almost 99% sure you need either the castle link, or the field programmer to have it run in the brushed mode. Also until it is in brushed mode it will not beep the motor. I use the sidewinder in my crawler, and it is such a great speed control for crawling.

Re: anybody running tires from rc4wd.com?
Nice looking toyota! I just finished restoring my hilux body for my scx10. For tires I picked up a set up on ebay, they were super soft and sticky, and clear the mud out very well. For wheels I run the rc4wd steelies, which look perfect on these bodies!

Re: T4 Ball diff feel
Pretty much anytime I purchase a car, no matter what the diff feels like I usually like to tear them apart and go through them for my own piece of mind. either way though they will always have a different feeling than a gear mesh would be, it should just be a smooth feeling. One trick I like to do i...

I agree with muck. I think it is a second release rusty. As the first ones I don't beleive had the blue chassis on them.

Re: Pushing the limits of brushless systems
If you feel like testing out the warranty I would go ahead and do it..lol I do know traxxas is pretty good about covering their electronics. As mentioned before though, adding another lipo cell, is alot more than adding an extra nicd/nimh cell. Plus if you run 4s you have to watch voltage as the vxl...

Re: Which first: Brushless or Lipo??
I would go brushless before Lipos. If your batteries are still good just use them and save up for lipos in the future. Also I would probably pass on the hobbywing set up. Castle just came out with a short course sidewinder/motor combo. I think it is pretty reasonable in price. I have had nothing but...

Re: reversing the rotation of BL motors
Definatly, long as you switch any 2 wires the motor rotation will be reversed. If you have a castle esc, you can reverse the rotation via castle link as well.

Re: What brushless setup are you actually racing with?
I usually run either a novak gtb or a castle esc. The gtb has worked flawless for me even for an "older" esc. I do love the castles though, with the castle link they are a breeze to program, and have alot more adjustments than the novak gtb does. I have yet to have either a castle or a nov...

Re: Cheap alternatives for shock oil?
Just spend the money and get the correct shock oils. They are anywhere from $3-$5 a bottle, and a bottle can last for a few sets of rebuilds. It is money well spent.
