Re: My new built RC10 Box Art

This all has been discussed ad nauseum, but Tamiya OWNS their own products and they are well within their right to protect their products—regardless of whether they are in production or not. Just because they don't produce redline Hot Wheels cars anymore doesn't give anyone the right to reproduce th...

Re: My new built RC10 Box Art

No the guy im talking about is Tamiyoman that is his memeber name. That guy is stealing the designs I created , and no, he doesn't sell them anymore (at least he's not supposed to). He's also being forced by Tamiya and Kyosho to not rip their products off, either. The RC10 Box art decals are curren...

Re: Slipping Stealth - need a little help!

No, there is NOTHING on the market currently for the original Stealth gearbox. It's a vintage item needing vintage parts to rebuild or replace. There is no quick fix. If you want easy to buy parts, buy current race cars. ;)

Re: Slipping Stealth - need a little help!

Pull the diff rings out of the diff gear, clean them, and put 2 dabs of CA glue on the backs to glue them to the diff outdrives.

Re-assemble.

Buy a new 5-40 nut for the outside of the slipper.

Re: 10l Batmobile

The body was paper thin, and had SO much downforce that 2wd cars could run no lift just about everywhere they raced oval. The body was a pre-cursor to the Custom Works Bullet that did essentially the same thing. Combined with silicone tires, the cars were ridiculous to drive, and tool little or no s...

Re: 10l Batmobile

That body KILLED dirt oval racing in the early 90s. Took more than a decade for the sport to recover from the damage that body and a few other factors did to DO racing. Not to mention that it is hideously ugly, to boot.

Re: Light box for photos

That definitely works great for filling in dark areas with light, but for tabletop photos, you can still get harsh edges on shadows, and funky reflections in glossy surfaces. Soft diffused light works the best for small stuff like this in a home-brewed light box.

Re: Bfast differential rebuild kits B4

They aren't doing anything else to the diff rings. They are completely surface ground, and that's it. That's the whole key to a smooth diff (flat rings). The kit they sell also has carbide or ceramic diff balls, diff lube and something else, too. The rings themselves are $13 or so, which is still pr...

Re: Bfast differential rebuild kits B4

I think Jeffery Racing Components makes a took that does just what we're talking about, and has a section in it for thrust bearing plates. A couple of different sizes for different diff rings.

Neat pieces.

Re: Bfast differential rebuild kits B4

What they are doing with these kits are what all top drivers have always done anyway, great idea to sell them for those who don't want to spend an hour on their diff! Bingo. Though, I think they are using a surface grinder and fixtures to make them flat as opposed to hand lapping them on wet/dry 60...

Re: Light box for photos

I use those cheap aluminum work lights with clamps, and then use the bulb CFLs that are between 5000 and 6000 Kelvin on the color scale. This is crucial, and they used to be hard to find, but with more CFLs out there now, it's getting easier to find different color bulbs. I think my whole setup only...

Re: Light box for photos

I use tracing paper or marker paper. Any white sheet or diffuser that lets some light through will remove shadows and reflections. It's important to use color-corrected bulbs. I have my lightbox set up with 5000k CFLs. Using different color bulbs will produce that yellow cast in the photos. Many cam...

Re: Vintage Dust Buster Power!

They did a DustBuster race at the Cleveland Champs in the late 70s or early 80s. The invites took their regular 1/12th scale race chassis and were each given a new in the box DustBuster, and they used the motor and batteries out of them in the race. I think they all used Bolink VW Rabbit bodies, too...

Re: Blog: Harper Sprint Cars

Plenty of updates on the blog for both cars, including tonight's entry featuring RC10talk.com's own Jeremy DeHaven's (LTO_Dave) powder coating services. Fantastic results, and I recommend his work highly. Another entry later tonight, too, as I had kind of a spastic purchase today after really shuffl...
