Re: "Replica" of RC12e from my childhood
Thanks. I really need to finish this off, but I've got too many projects right now. Brian, why didnt you tell me you needed a brown box? Got one, probably those connectors too, I'll look. Shoot me a list of what you need. Oops, didn't even think about it  I could use a connector for my...

Re: Oversized hinge pin holes, what to do?
Unfortunately the parts meet their spec. 3% on a .125 hole is about .004, and they are hitting that. Their lower limit is 0.2 mm, which is more like .008. So in reality, they could be much worse and still meet their stated tolerances. Nature of the beast when 3D printing. One strategy I have used is...

Re: RC28 modding
Thanks guys for the kind words and enthusiasm. It didn't start off as my intention, but it pretty much is turning into a whole new car. The RC28 will just be a donor for body, wheels/tires, and electronics.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
...sinthered doesn't really have a stronger direction since the bonding is homogeneous. Nope, not quite. SLS also has more strength in X-Y than Z. It has much much lower strain to failure in Z also. MJF on the other hand is basically isotropic, and pretty much 100% dense. Although it does have a bi...

I don't believe multi jet fusion parts are hollow. Thats more of an FDM thing.

The black MJF looks much better than the gray.

Re: My interpretation of the IFMAR 91 car
Shapeways must have jacked up their prices on MJF then, when I had those parts printed (maybe like a year ago...) they were the same price as SLS.

Re: My interpretation of the IFMAR 91 car
I believe that one day 3D printing will achieve the same material strength as injection molding. We just aren't there yet. We 3d print titanium and other plastic parts at work that get shot into space. So the strength is there, just not at the consumer level yet. Not sure if the metal sintering wil...

Re: RC28 modding
No real updates, just a video i put up on YouTube about the project
I think next i need to pull the donor car apart and start working on mounting things in the pan, the rear bulkhead, etc.

Re: My interpretation of the IFMAR 91 car
You guys can still buy the NIX91 parts on Shapeways and then figure out your own chassis from pictures. We've spent years trying to figure out the entire car. I don't intend to just give away all of the work. Hey Fred, can you upload all your files for this car to Thingiverse so i can make my own? ...
