Re: Marui Samurai 4WD - Another SilverTriple's journey...

Did progress on the Samurai N°1 clean up... At the end here is what I have on the table https://i.imgur.com/RPJ06Nn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kfd2CtB.jpg I think I know now the reason why the front middle bulkhead was broken : there was a heavy collision at the left side - the left bottom arm is bende...

Re: Marui Samurai 4WD - Another SilverTriple's journey...

Yesterday, after having dealt with the cleaning, I had some time... But I didn't want to start the Samurai build as I'm still awaiting few bits to appear on a picture before starting the built. They are expecting to show up soon, but never soon enough. I decided to start modeling the Samurai. Rims a...

Re: Marui Samurai 4WD - Another SilverTriple's journey...

After my last post, I decided to start working on the gearbox. I already have 2 new gearbox from Optima House for my Samurai, so this is clearly only for the fun (or maybe because I need at least one motor plate :-) ) I decided to do things in proper order this time (doing things in the proper seque...

Re: Novak...no more?

Battery tech is set to take another leap forward very soon as they discovered how to make batteries with more capacity and more stable so they will not explode if punctured. Batt tech is going change on the ten fold in the next few years, watch for it. Huge changes are on the horizon, it might take...

Re: Speed control questions

Like morrisey said, I was also going to mention the Hobbywing 880. I honestly don't think you can beat it for the price, you get a lot of quality for the money. And it's waterproof, has a lot of programming options, high current capability, can use NiMH or Lipo batteries, etc. Just be careful/mindfu...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Got the daughter on the "sticks" today. Tamiya Nissan Titan, I think it's the DT-02 platform. Anyway, we worked on low speed drivability.

Re: Speed control questions

Stuff happens when you get carried away putting a whoopin' on your brother's brushless truck with your 4200mah Lipo powered, 30 yr old school 40k rpm brushed motor setup.... oops  This motor was freshly rebuilt with brand new 11x3 armature, bearings, brushes and springs. Freaking thing ripped...

Re: Marui Samurai 4WD - Another SilverTriple's journey...

Had this gearbox sitting on my desk this morning... First thing I did was to put gears inside to observe how it is made. https://i.imgur.com/7t0wD97.jpg https://i.imgur.com/n1On8tD.jpg And yes, some of the gears here are not from a Samurai (Artistocarft Dolphin/Kangaroo - thanks @Dadio for the hints...

Re: New project

https://i.imgur.com/qKycbdM.jpg Been about 5-6 weeks since I was able to do anything on the latest tube chassis truck build, just been real busy with work stuff. Finally had to take a break from work stuff and relax so decided to get back on this project. Was able to finish up all the fabrication a...

Re: What If ?

Can’t bend the materials, they would need to be laid up with the kickup. You could have Jerry Hellstrom (Jerzi) lay up a custom chassis, he is good with the one-off stuff You could do aluminum quite easily, and when anodized black they look great. The other thing you could do is cut the chassis wher...

Re: Marui Samurai 4WD - Another SilverTriple's journey...

This morning, I got a delivery from an Asian 3D Printer... I decided to do this order as they had an anniversary promotion for the first order for new customers: 40 USD discount whatever ordered, and 9.90 USD for the shipping. I wanted nice and solid wheels for the Samurai, that was a good opportuni...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

After the wing and wheels from the Samurai, I received a red cocoon from Belgium... https://i.imgur.com/4UoJCTG.jpg The delivery was made at the time of my lunch. I was just going to start eating when it happened. I did finish my lunch in about 10 minutes, I believe... I still had some time during m...
