Re: Bagged OEM parts organization

it may matter where you are forgetting your parts. Are you forgetting these parts when you are buying or when you are building? I have way less then most collections, but i was still forgetting stuff I had or didn't have. I started making boxes for each family of parts. A boxes for b5/b6/t6 box othe...

The unbuilding and boxing of an rc10t2

I got this idea when asking about how to store a collection. I had bought an extra rc10t2 and an excellent condition chassis. I kinda had the parts all over the place and was inspired by this find A07FFC9F-3AC9-49BC-A95F-7F5D2CD7AEF6.jpeg https://site.petitrc.com/setup/associated/setuprc10t2/10T2_Ex...

Re: Brushless/Lipo vs Brushed/ NiCd

Ok, so first off I know these are like apples to oranges, but.... I just started working on rebuilding a JRX-T runner and I'm already think of what to power it with. I want to go with modern electronics, but keep the truck a similar speed to what it was back in the day. So what I'm asking is... Wha...

Review of novus plastic polish for removing haze

I purchased some Novus plastic polish based on some posts here. Results first 597FE994-293F-4CE3-B244-8FAB8ED723D0.jpeg I kept this old shell to practice on. I stripped the paint on the roof with some dot3 and it left pretty strong haze. I purchased the novus plastic polishing system at 2oz. Taped o...

Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way

So one of the projects I have wanted to try is making a carbon fiber chassis. This will have 2 steps: making a mold then making the part. I had in the past tried creating a 'buck' for molding. I simply lack the skill and workspace to make an accurate enough piece. I am going to make a cast mold dire...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way

A successful failure! The parts remolded correctly and the chassis is not damaged. 97E5761A-2967-429E-AA62-A06BFEA5BDA5.jpeg Some things worked and some didn’t. Where the resin contacts the chassis all is smooth. No fabric is visible at all from the mold side. The wax in the holes look like it mostl...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way

Well much like a Lexan body but using the original chassis as a buck and pulling a vacuum former Lexan mold over the top , you may even be able to do a pair , one outer and one inner so you could get a perfect outer and inner finish . There are a number of tutorials on YouTube on making a DIY vacuu...

Re: Restoring faded color to anodized aluminum

Frankentruck wrote: Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:34 am If you oven bake the chassis, watch the temperature. Once aluminum gets close to 400F it starts to soften.
Since I have no guide, I'll start at 350 since I can at least make ribs at the same time. I may wind up disappointed, but I'll be full.

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way

Getting back to it. Since I know now that I will have to bag the part I decided to test laying the material and bagging. So no resin for this attempt. 48C4DC9F-757A-4BA3-ACC7-66CCBF158D5F.jpeg 426AA4E5-8BD1-4E6C-A809-8354A2ABED7E.jpeg Now this that is glued to a board I can tack down the fabric as I...

Re: RC10T3 Factory Team build

I added a few goodies to this truck. Dragon front brace looks pretty cool imho. RPM steering. I was thinking that RC10T skinny front wheels & tires would look good on this truck. I know it isn't accurate, but I may try it. The pictures of this build really are next level. This is better than so...

Re: What steering servos is everyone using?

I run the same Savox on any of my cars that will be run regularly. If it is going to sit on the shelf most of its life, it will probably get a Fut S148. I would have to be a paid racer before I would think about a $200+ steering servo. Looking at modern setup sheets not even all of the professional...

Re: My first RC10 Gold pan -- PLEASE tell me what I've got

Thanks for the info guys! Is this motor that was included any good, or should I look for another one? Are the newer brushless motors more powerful? Any reason to take a hard look at a brushless? This car will just be ripped around the neighborhood and at our ranch, it will never be raced or anythin...
